Boone McCoy (born August 24, 2025) is an American football quarterback who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for the University of Kentucky (UK) and has declared his intention to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Boone McCoy was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on August 24, 2025, and was raised in nearby Richmond until his father moved their family business to Louisville, Kentucky when Boone was ten. He is the eldest son of Eric and Sarah McCoy and is of Irish descent through his father and mother. His father is a former college football guard for Eastern Kentucky University from 2016 to 2018 and is the current owner of One-String Burbon. His mother was a track and field athlete specializing in the pole vault. His two younger brothers – Hawk and Kane – both currently play collegiate sports at both Louisville and Middle Tennesee State University respectively. Boone McCoy played his high school career at St. Xavier High School where he started for two years, where he lead them to the state championship during his senior year. When asked about his childhood, Boone mainly speaks about how he loves a lot of the culture of the south and the people, "though they are sometimes a bit backwards on things"."

College career

Having committed to the University of Kentucky, Boone McCoy saw little playing time in his freshman year. In truth, McCoy was one that developed quite a reputation during his Freshman year as he came to realize that he would be spending all of his collegiate career fighting for his position behind Elessar Jones. Words like "volatile" and "hot head" were used among reporters at the time; however, Kentucky coaching staff was quick to shelter their potential stars from most of this backlash. Boone McCoy would not have a consistent starting job until midway through his sophomore season when starting quarterback suffered a wrist injury during the seventh game of the season. McCoy showed flashes of brilliance and good pocket presence, but would ultimately be pulled in favor of Jones when the coaching staff brought Jones in after McCoy threw his second interception during the first half against Tennessee during the 2022-2023 season. Elessar Jones would go on to lead Kentucky back from the deficit in a spectacular fashion, which would ultimately clinch the starting job from McCoy. McCoy spent the rest of the season and his whole junior season as a backup to Elessar Jones. McCoy would see more playing time following a coaching change at the University of Kentucky. McCoy and Jones were used in more of a tandem with each one starting every other game. Ultimately a stupid strategy, but one that allowed McCoy to put up better numbers than he would have otherwise.

Professional career

Boone McCoy was drafted to the rebuilding Portland Pythons in the second round in the 2048 (S33) DSFL Draft. McCoy spent most of his time finding his role on the team. Being a rookie, McCoy felt pressured to lead his team during their down year, and his performance suffered as a result. McCoy was joked to be a "clutch" player for Portland as he seemed unable to complete a pass before the third-down; however, that did not last. McCoy soon came to his own, breaking the current losing streak, and giving Portland their first win streak of the year. Sadly, football was a team sport, and the team was too young to make a huge impact on the league. While McCoy would see individual success and high stats, Portland would go on to boast a measly record of 4-10. When asked about the future, McCoy gave an impressive interview stating "... this team is young, but I see a fire in these guys. If we keep at it, we won't have to worry about Norfolk winning another Ultimini. Because it's coming to the Pit."
