Ben Alexander-Arnold (born June 19, 2020) is a retired American football cornerback for the Tijuana Luchadores of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL). He was drafted by the Austin Copperheads with the sixth pick of the fourth round (48th overall) in the 2040 ISFL Draft. After making the step up to ISFL football in 2041 (S26) he changed positions to play fullback in 2043 (S28) for the Copperheads during his seven year career there, and also one season for the New Orleans Second Line before retiring.

Early years

Ben Alexander-Arnold was born in Liverpool, England. He grew up playing football (soccer) as well as a little American football due to the increasing popularity of the sport in his country. At high school he started to show promise at the sport and was scouted by teams from different leagues across North America.

Professional career

SCFSL career

At the age of 16 Alexander-Arnold was flown to Toronto, Canada to try out for the new football team competing in the inaugural season of the SCFSL. He earned a place on the Toronto Rush and played at cornerback. His first season of professional football was relatively quiet with 6 pass deflections and 5 interceptions after 12 games played, he had to get used to the pace of the game as well as competing with grown men.

In his second and third seasons in the league he improved relatively quietly increasing his interceptions to 7 and then 8, while also recording 6 sacks in his third season. The Rush made it to the championship game in 2038 where they lost a tight game with the Omaha Vipers.

His fourth season in the league, Alexander-Arnold recorded 4 sacks, 9 pass deflections, and 7 interceptions, also adding a forced fumble. The Rush finished the 2039 season in a playoff spot, eventually losing again to the Omaha Vipers. After the 2039 season Alexander-Arnold left the SCSFL in order to focus on his DSFL team and inclusion in the upcoming ISFL draft.

DSFL career

Alexander-Arnold entered DSFL waivers in 2039 and ended up on the team he had been training with during the offseason, the Tijuana Luchadores. After the Mexican team had scouted him from the SCFSL they wanted to bring him in but due to his contract commitments with the Toronto Rush he was unable to enter the 2039 DSFL draft. He restructured his contract with Rush in order to play in the DSFL during their offseason.

In the 2039 DSFL season Alexander-Arnold lead the league in passes defended for most of the year, slowing down as the season came to a close to finish fifth in the category. He and opposite starting corner Rich Triplet formed a formidable barrier for opposing Quarterbacks to contend with as a part of a league best defence that helped Tijuana have the number one seed going in to the playoffs. Unfortunately they couldn't finish the job, losing in a tight game that went to overtime in the SFC championship against the Norfolk Seawolves. After being drafted by the Austin Copperheads, Alexander-Arnold requested to remain in Tijuana to try win a championship. He signed a three year contract with Austin with six million dollars guaranteed.

The 2040 DSFL season was another pro bowl year for Alexander-Arnold. After losing many players to the ISFL draft the Luchadores didn't perform as well as they had the previous season but still made it to the playoffs where they improved on the year prior beating the Buccaneers in the SFC championship. They then beat a favoured Royals 42-16 in the Ultimini where Alexander-Arnold secured the only interception of the game.

ISFL career

2041 (S26) was Alexander-Arnold's first season in the ISFL playing for the Austin Copperheads, he played mostly at nickleback and slot corner. His rookie campaign was relatively quiet although the team performed well tying with three others for first position in the ASFC. The season came to an end quickly though after losing to the New York Silverbacks in the divisional round of the playoffs.

2042 (S27) was a forgettable season in Austin and during the season the team looked to make a few changes, one of which being a shift to the offensive side of the ball to play fullback for Alexander-Arnold. His offensive mindedness from playing football (soccer) while younger helped with the switch but it still took a the rest of the season before the position became more natural to him.

2043 (S28) saw the Copperheads finish with a 9-7 record once again, good enough to make the playoffs and face a familiar opponent in the first round. This time beating New York 21-18. Another tight game in the conference finals saw Austin defeat the favoured Arizona 16-13, with the Copperhead's only touchdown scored by Alexander-Arnold, the first of his ISFL career. The Ultimus championship game in Italy saw Austin facing the Yellowknife Wraiths, where they were down 24-3 in the third quarter. A late game comeback was not enough for the victory with the final score being 24-19.

Austin continued their rollercoaster ways, missing the playoffs in 2044 (S29) before picking right back where they left off in 2045 (S30). The Copperheads finished with an 11-5 record in 2045, tied with the New York Silverbacks, who they once again lost to in the divisional round.

In 2046 (S31) Alexander-Arnold signed a new three year deal with the Copperheads, and they had their best season since he was drafted finishing with a 12-4 record which was best in the league. Austin once again met New York in the divisional round, beating them 45-24 and making the postseason record 2-2 against the Silverbacks in Alexander-Arnold's career. The ASFC championship game against the Hahalua was a very tight game but Honolulu managed to hold the lead for the entire game, finishing at 30-27. They would go on to win the Ultimus in a game with the same scoreline.

The Copperheads managed to find some stability, making the playoffs in 2047 (S32) for the third consecutive year with an 11-5 record. The divisional round of the playoffs was Alexander-Arnold's final post season matchup against the New York Silverbacks. The two sides couldn't be split in regular time and in one final heartbreak for the Copperheads the Silverbacks kicked a game winning field goal in overtime to make the score 30-27. New York would go on to win the Ultimus that year. After the season Austin faced cap issues with the growing number of star players they had. Alexander-Arnold's new contract couldn't be justified and he was released.

Before the 2048 (S33) season Alexander-Arnold signed with the New Orleans Second Line. They finished a league worst 3-13 that year, and Alexander-Arnold announced his retirement from ISFL football after the season.

Post football career

Alexander-Arnold returned to Tijuana to help the Luchadores in a coaching role after his football career while also splitting his time in his hometown. He is known to be an avid fan of Liverpool football club.
