Apollo Reed (born March 14, 2006) was an American football running back for the Orange County Otters of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for Miami University (Miami (OH)) before being drafted by the Orange County Otters in the 2030 ISFL Draft (S15). Prior to this, he had been drafted by the Norfolk Seawolves in the 2029 DSFL Draft (S14).

Early years

Apollo Reed was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Alexa Reed and an unknown father. Apollo's father left him and his mom soon after his birth and Apollo has yet to even learn his father's name. Apollo was raised in the bad side of Cincinnati. His mother could barely afford to send him to school with the small income she received from working various hourly jobs. During his childhood, Apollo was a scrawny kid with a knack for getting in trouble, both with the law and his fellow youth. This all changed, however, once he discovered football. After completing several odd jobs around town, he was able to afford to attend high school at the local South Cincinnati High.

College career

Apollo Reed played four years for the Miami University Redhawks and was the starting running back for three of them.

In his freshman year saw Apollo as the backup running back and net 452 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, and 89 receiving yards.

With the graduation of Miami’s starting running back, Apollo was placed in the starting running back role for the Redhawks. Here, he earned 1,032 rushing yards, 8 rushing touchdowns, 102 receiving yards, and a single receiving touchdown.

Apollo’s junior year saw the Redhawks perform one of the best seasons in school history. Apollo recorded his career-best 1,398 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, and 98 receiving yards. The Redhawks were ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2003, and defeat their rivals, the Ohio Bobcats, in the MAC Conference Championship. The team also went on to win the Alamo Bowl.

Apollo’s senior year saw him repeat the success he found in the previous year, with 1,338 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 109 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown. The Redhawks became MAC Conference Champions two years in a row but failed to win Gator Bowl.

Professional career

DSFL career

After declaring for the DSFL Entry Draft, Apollo Reed joined one of the largest draft classes in its history. Combine this with a late declaration from Apollo, and Apollo fell down the draft board. He was selected by the Norfolk Seawolves with the fifth pick in the twelfth round of the draft.

During his one and only season with the Norfolk Seawolves, Apollo Reed played in tandem with Wyoming University alumni, Dorfus Jimbo. Despite sharing receptions, Apollo Reed still managed to record 1014 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 113 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns. For the first time in his career, Apollo Reed also played as the kick returner for the team. He earned 774 yards in this position. That season, Apollo Reed started on the NFC Pro Bowl team.
