Andrew Warthol (born July 7, 2020) is an American football defensive end who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for San Diego State University (SDSU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Andrew Warthol was born on July 31st, 2018 in Seattle, Washington. In his early years, playing football was ingrained in his mind. He played Pop Warner football staring in the 3rd grade as a Running Back. During High School he played Right Tackle, but during his Senior year made the switch to Defensive End because of his sheer strength, as realized by his coach Ryan Seal. He outbenched everyone else on his team by over 100 pounds by the time he was a Junior, while still maintaining a 4.7 40-yard dash time. However, going into college, Andrew was mainly overlooked by scouts because the area in whch he went to high school sadly was not known for producing prolific football players. In fact, Andrew recieved so few offers to play football in college that his parents, David and Lisa, tried to convice him to otherwise pursue his academics, instead of continuing on with football. However, an offer finally came in from San Diego State University, and while not Andrew's first choice, they would let him continue playing football in their program.

College career

Warthol accepted an aethletic scholorship from San Diego State University, where he played for coach Brady Hoke's SDSU Aztec's Football Team from 2038-2041. As a True Freshman, Warthol did not garner any starts, and only accrued recording 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss. In the following season, Warthol proved himself to coach Hoke that he was capable of starting, and in just 4 games, garnered 5 sacks and 7 tackles for loss. However, while playing against UNLV in week 5, Warthol tore his meniscus and was ruled out for the season. This only proved worse, and when he recieved surgery on his leg to repair it, there were numerous complications that only set him back further. However, he was cleared to train again 10 weeks before the start of his third season, and he took the time to get his body back into the shape and conditioning that it needed to be in to succeed. During his third season, he achieved 11.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 19 tackles for loss. In the words of Hoke, "I've coached some amazing players that have gone on to have very successful careers, but none have had the sheer work ethic that Andrew has. We honestly didn't know how he would do after tearing his meniscus in his sophomore year, but somehow the kid came back way stronger than he was before. It lit a fire inside of him. He trained and trained, and when everyone else was done training, he trained some more. This is why I am so enamored with the guy."
