Amadeus Redd Redding (born July 3, 2003) is an American football defensive tackle who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for UCF (UCF) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

"Amadeus Redding was born in Florida, the second son of Richard and Marie Redding. Marie was a stay at home mother, occasionally working various odd jobs when needed. Richard was a star shooting guard at the University of Florida. Rated as a top pick in the draft, Richard unfortunately suffered a left leg injury during the Elite 8 game of the NCAA tournament. He fell 20 spots in the draft and was never able to recapture the promise he showed in his collegiate career. He was cut after his rookie contract and was forced to go overseas in order to provide for his family. He was able to turn in a successful career overseas, winning a championship and an Euroleague MVP.

Richard pushed his kids hard in sports. If they were going to play, they had to excel. His hard work paid off, as all his children were able to secure athletic scholarships. Amadeus was no exception. In high school he played football and basketball, before settling on football his junior year. He led the state in tackles for a loss in back to back years. Despite this he was considered a three star prospect. Despite getting a scholarship to UF, he chose to go to the University of Central Florida in order to build something on his own. "

College career

"His freshman year was without note as he was sidelined for most of the season with a broken foot. However he made up for this the following year. He quickly took over the starting spot, posting a 58 tackle including 17 for a loss, 3.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. This earned him first team All-AAC and a trip to his first game that UCF lost due to a last second Hail Mary.

The loss fueled the team but no one more than Redding. He improved on his previous season and led his team to another bowl game. This time they were able to secure the win behind a dominant performance by Redding. His senior year was his most productive with 27 tackles for a loss, 10 forced fumbles and 8 sacks. His effort led to UCF's first undefeated season in years. However, UCF was not able to make the playoffs due to a controversial decision by the voters to put a 2 loss SEC team in the fourth spot instead of the Knights. Using the snub as motivation, Redding and the dominant Knight defense pitched a shutout to the high octane Oklahoma State offense. He voted AAC Defensive Player of the Year and was an All-American.
