Alex Reed (born July 20, 2023) was an American football wide receiver for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Alex Reed is the son of former ISFL star, Apollo Reed. Similar to his father, he was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Unlike his father, however, Alex had a calm, normal upbringing. Apollo Reed even retired from the ISFL after nine seasons in the league, just to help take care of Alex. Apollo went on record saying, "The last thing I would ever want for my child, is to have to grow up like I did." Unlike his father, Alex knew from an early age that he wanted to play in the ISFL. Alex was a frequent sight on any little league or flag football roster in the tri-state area. The only thing that Alex's childhood had in common with Apollo's was their high school, South Cincinnati High. His father had donated thousands of dollars to his old high school over the years, and had even become the head coach of the football team. Alex didn't need any help securing the WR1 position, however. As the offensive coordinator for the high school put it, "The only way his old man helped him was by letting him inherit his speed."

College career

Unlike his father, Alex Reed was a top, 5-star recruit coming out of high school. He received offers from multiple Power 5 teams, but ultimately decided to commit to the University of Alabama. He was WR2 on the depth chart for his freshman year, due to a Junior that would declare for the DSFL draft after that season. Alex performed well that year scoring 782 yards and 7 touchdowns. Things took a turn for the worse during his sophmore year however. He was WR1 for the first three weeks of play, but a torn ACL prematurely ended his season. While he was out, two freshman wide receivers impressed enough that he was dropped all the way down to WR3. Instead of staying with the Crimson Tide and competeing for the WR1 spot, Alex instead opted to transfer to SEC rival, LSU. Alex was met with critisism from the media, who believed that Alex should have stayed instead of transferring. Regardless, Alex would light up the NCAA with the Tigers. He scored 1,429 yards and 12 touchdowns and finished 3rd in voting for the Heisman trophy. Instead of returning to LSU for his senior season, Alex declared for the S24 DSFL draft.
