Adélie de Pengu (born January 25, 2018) was an American football Linebacker for the Colorado Yeti in the ISFL.

Early years

Adélie de Pengu was a simple penguin from Antarctica. Like every other penguin, he enjoyed his basic waddling, his fishing, and huddling together for warmth. Unfortunately one day he got distracted by a small pebble. It caught his eye and he found himself chasing after it eagerly. He ended up slipping and sliding as he desperately tried to get a grasp of it. When he finally caught up to it, he was lost and had been separated from his penguin family.

Lost and alone, he found himself hunted by a skua. A predatory bird known for preying on young penguins and one had his eyes set on young Adélie. Adélie tried to scurry away as quickly as he could, but the skua continued to make dive after dive at the small penguin. Alone and exposed, it seemed Adélie didn’t have much of a chance.

The skua finally made a full landing in an attempt to block Adélie’s path. The small penguin quickly tried to change directions, but once more fell due to his clumsiness. He went down belly first into a full slide towards the skua. Not expecting the sudden charge, the skua had no chance to get out of the way as Adélie collided with the larger bird with a bone-crushing hit. It was enough to leave the skua sprawled out and dazed at Adélie once more clambered to his feet and waddled to his escape. Little did he know, this entire exchange had been observed from afar by a very familiar figure.

Bjørn Ironside had been on a trip to this frozen tundra and he had spotted the brave little penguin. What happened next was well recorded as Bjørn took the penguin in and taught him everything there was to know about football. He trained the little guy up, gave him special stuff, and watched him grow. Since then he has developed into quite an impressive safety prospect for the NSFL. Word is he even potentially has his eyes on taking over a team as a general manager.

2037 DSFL Season

The DSFL season was a surprising success for de Pengu. Few thought that a Penguin could possibly ever have any real success in the world of football, but he came into the league and made his impact almost immediately. Drafted third overall by the Norfolk Seawolves, there was at least one front office who thought highly of him thanks to the encouragements of team alumni Bjørn Ironside. The GMs saw potential and they took the risk. Adélie rewarded them early on by proving he could be a star.

He became a high-flying playmaker for the team as they used him primarily in run support and he racked up tackles and gained a reputation as a punishing hitter as he forced turnovers from opposing ball carriers. He was taking the league by storm and it quickly became clear that his future was as bright as ever.

Unexpectedly though, the secret stuff that Ironside had provided to young Adélie to get him to football size and football shape had an unintended side effect. Adélie didn't stop growing. As the season progressed he got bigger and bigger and put on 40 pounds of mass before the playoffs even came. For this reason, the Seawolves had no choice but to play him at linebacker. He quickly took to his new position though and the Seawolves approached playoffs with renewed confidence.

Going into the final week, Norfolk was in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot and everyone knew it would be close. Off the back of Adélie and his friends on defense, they pulled an incredible upset over the Buccaneers and punched their ticket to the next round. Unfortunately, that was where their season story ended. Now all Adélie has to do is look forward to the NSFL draft to see if he will finally make it to the big leagues.

2038 DSFL Season

The 2038 (S23) season was a very confusing time for young de Pengu. It started with the league discussing a rebrand. He'd come here to play in the NSFL, but it looked like it would never happen. There were rumors of this new thing called the ISFL swirling around and he was initially afraid of what may happen to this place he called home. Once football started though, he focused and all of that became something he would have to tackle later.

He was sent back down to the Seawolves for another season to help them achieve their goal of reaching a championship. As one of the most talented players on the roster, de Pengu was willing to do almost anything for Norfolk. He had experience now and people had a real grasp of what de Pengu could do, so Norfolk was willing to move him all over the field. Wherever he could help the team most, that was where he lined up for the Seawolves. It was an immediate success as de Pengu spent most of the season racking up tackle after tackle and ended up with 121 total. His ability to drop the quicker ball carriers before they could break free really helped this defense slow opposing offenses all season long.

Off the field was even more fun for de Pengu as he met a new friend in Daria Guava-Fresca. Daria was the new kicker for the Seawolves and she meant the world to Pengu. Everyone knew that shiny things were important to this young penguin and he'd missed out on shiny things the season before thanks to the previous kicker, Bauer Bot. Bauer Bot ruined his chance at a trophy, but with Daria he gained new hope. She quickly took to Pengu and taught him incredible things. Like Dungeons and Dragons! their bond and friendship grew through the season and it finally culminated in what Pengu had always wanted. Shinies. A shiny new trophy to call his own. Unfortunately, the celebration of the receipt of shinies was cut short after a tragic accident that took the life of Guava-Fresca. Pengu will have a long road ahead as he now has to prepare for the next season without his best friend.

2039 ISFL Beginnings

With his dearest friend passing away with Daria, de Pengu knew he had a long path ahead of him and he knew what he must do. He must push onward and honor her memory by taking care of what meant most to her. Her dearest moose, Melvin. De Pengu knew that to keep Melvin out of trouble and to keep his aggression focused on things that could take it, he would need to remain in football. For that reason, de Pengu encouraged the moose to continue his path to superstardom. He would need to keep an eye on this murderous moose.

More personally though, he did a thing he never thought he would. Before ever playing a snap for the New Orleans Second Line, a place he had called home and loved dearly, he entered free agency. He knew that if he were to keep up with Melvin, he would need to venture forth and find a home that was closer to the cold. The Colorado Yeti reached out and even offered to build him a home in the mountains. He knew this would be the perfect place not only for his own training but Melvin's as well. An apparently the Yeti agreed as they drafted Melvin in the first round as well.

Now with Melvin close, de Pengu could focus on football. He dove in full speed ahead and before he knew it, Colorado was informing him they were calling him up. They had an empty spot at defensive end and needed someone to plug the hole for them. De Pengu has always done everything he could to help others, so he saw no reason to not do what Colorado asked of him. He proved fairly effective when he actually showed up to games. For at least four of the Yeti's games he had mysteriously vanished. Be that to being quarantined from the bird flu, visiting family, or keeping an eye on Melvin none could be sure. When he did show up though, he proved that he could get behind offensive lines fairly easily. He was slippery and it made the position natural for him. Before he knew it, Colorado was 14-2 and heading into playoffs. This completed a three-season streak between Norfolk and Colorado where he had yet to miss playoffs in his career. But what would come next?
