Will "Brick Wall" Smyth (born March 10, 2022) is an American football defensive tackle for the London Royals of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Smyth never knew his parents all that well. They died when he was still very young, and he was orphaned at the age of 10. He learned to live off the streets, only looking out for himself. Eventually, like everyone on the streets, he fell in with a bad crowd, but eventualy found his way to Sister Mary's House for Wayward Sheep. Inside, he met a former ISFL Wide Receiver named Alexander "The Flash" Johnson. One day, at the age of 13, Smyth was playing a game of football with his friends. He went to tackle someone and promptly slid face first into a brick wall, giving him his nickname. Flash saw something in him as well, and offered to pay for his college degree if he passed high school. He played football for the George Washington High Rebels, where he was middling at best, but his grades were excellent, and true to his word, Johnson paid for Brick Wall to attend Oregon.

College career

As a freshman, Smyth set records for tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks. He had 30 sacks in a season, the highest in his year by far. Oregon made the Pac-12 championship, but ended up losing in overtime. His grades were excellent still, but the following year they saw a dropoff. His sophomore and junior years were marked with tragedy, His best friend, Ryan committed suicide, his brother was shot and murdered by a gang member. As a result, his grades started dropping, and he was in danger of losing his spot on the team. Johnson then appeared, told him to get his head out of his ass, and get his grades up. With that tough love, he improved, and after his senior year, declared for the DSFL Draft, where he was drafted 19th overall by the London Royals, setting the stage for his being drafted 10th overall by the Baltimore Hawks the next season.

Professional career

DSFL career

After playing as a prospect for the Kansas City Coyotes, Smyth was drafted 19th overall by the London Royals. Everyone was expecting him to go to Tijuana in the second round, so he was very surprised to find out he dropped. He had a very uninspiring rookie season, and finished near last in all statistical categories, though he was nominated for Defensive Tackle of the Year and was even voted into the Pro Bowl in a tie. His next season he hopes to do much better before getting the call to Baltimore.
