=Portland Pythons

The Portland Pythons went into Ultimini XXXV after posting a 8-4-2 record, they placed 2nd in their conference behind strong Ultimini contenders the Minnesota Grey Ducks who had a 10-4 record, 2nd best in the league. They boasted the best offense in their conference, however on the other side of the ball they were amomg the worse league wide. QB Adrian St. Christmas had yet another stellar season as the teams signal caller, winning OPOY to lead the Pythons to another Ultimini appearance, they were defeated badly the year prior in the Ultimini by the Tijuana Luchadores. They knew they would have their hands full trying to overcome another super team to get their hands on a another Ultimini Trophy.

Bondi Beach Buccaneers

The Bondi Beach Buccaneers absolutely dominated the regular season, leading their division (the South) comfortably with a 11-3 record. Although many critics pointed to their weak division as the reason for their great record as the team that placed 2nd were a 500 team, making the Buccaneers the only above 500 team in their conference. In my opinion those claims might have merit to it as they never lost a game within their conference however, the Buccaneers also rostered a very well balanced team, the offense being led by superstar trio consisting of quarterback Grayson Yates who threw 29 TDs. The team also featured the top back in the DSFL as well in rookie Armor Queen, who had 1600+ yards and 14 touchdowns, both leading the league. Also not to be forgotten was WR1 Derrick Prince who ended the year with nearly 1300 yards and 12 TDs and a 17.8 ypc which was the 2nd best in the league. Due to these 3 standout players the Buccaneers averaged 29.1 points per game, 2nd best in the league, 375.1 total yards per game, 2nd most in the whole league, 122.8 rushing yards per game, 2nd most in the whole league, and 252.4 passing yards per game, 6th most in the whole league. Defensively, the Buccaneers allowed 20.2 points per game, 2nd least in the whole league, 347.7 total yards per game, 2nd best in the whole league, 97.9 rushing yards per game, 4th best in the whole league, and 249.9 passing yards per game, fifth best in the whole league.

Playoffs

Portland were underdogs in the Semifinals as they were pitted against the heavily favourited 1st seed Minnesota Grey Ducks, however despite all odds Portland were able to pull off a close 27-20 win, fighting off the Grey Ducks efforts of a comeback. QB Adrian St. Christmas was the primary reason for the Pythons upset win, ending the spectacular day with 3 TD passes thrown and nearly 300 yards through the air as they were granted their 15th Ultimini appearance.

The Bondi Beach Buccaneers started off at home, a result of being the 1st seed in their conference. They went up against the 7-7 Birdogs and were heavy favourites. The Buccaneers didn't dissapoint as they had a statement 10 point win over Dallas. The player who played the most vital role in this win was QB Grayson Yates who saw himself finish with 3 touchdown passes thrown to 0 Interceptions to lead the Buccaneers to their 6th Ultimini appearance all time.

Game summary

First Quarter

Ultimini XXXV started with the ball in Buccaneers possession and they quickly made a uncharacteristic mistake in their territory, Yates was sacked by the DSFL's DPOY Inspector Gadget who forced the fumble in Buccaneers territory. QB St Christmas got the ball looking to capitalize on the the field position. Which he did as WR Swantavius Torch snuck behind the secondary for a short touchdown. Grayson Yates got the ball again looking to make amends for his previous mishap. He did just that leading 2 rhythmic drives, throwing 2 passes of 50+ air yards for touchdowns. 1st quarter ended with Buccaneers up 14-7.

Second Quarter

It was a timid start to the 2nd quarter as both teams exchanged punts, Both teams not breaking through with a score. However the Buccaneers orchestrated a late drive. Moving quickly down the field they found themselves in Python territory where the drive inevitably stalled out. They opted for a 27 yard field goal which was missed. The score remained 14-7 Buccaneers.

Third Quarter

The third quarter started with Pythons with the ball. Their offensive woes continued as back to back sacks by Goat Tannk forced a Pythons punt. Grayson Yates looking to make the lead even bigger, led a another dominant TD drive which ended with WR1 Derrick Prince finding the endzone once again. It was 21-7 at this point and the Pythons havent score since the early 1st quarter. POR knew that they needed to make some plays or Yates would put the game away with another dominant TD drive. Portland instead made a mishap of their own as WR Swantavius Torch was stripped thus turning the ball over in their own territory. Yates got the ball once again looking to put the dagger through the heart of portland fans. Doing just that he led a quick TD drive ending with rookie RB twerky dingleberry punching in it. The score was now 28-7 and all but over for Portland.

Fourth Quarter

The 4th quarter saw another timid start, both teams trading punts until on Portlands 2nd drive of the quarter QB Adrian St Christmas would lead a painfully long 5 minute drive ending in a TD pass to Swantavius Torch.
