Suleiman Ramza (born April 26, 2014) is an American football quarterback who is currently a quarterback for the Norfolk Seawolves. He played college football for Oregon and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Suleiman Ramza was born in London, England. His parents taught him from an early age to work hard and excel. Not naturally athletic, from a young age, Suleiman learned that he needed to work extra hard in order to compete with others. He has held onto this mentality to this day. Working hard in England, playing American Football at a pro level did not occur to him until he started playing at his secondary school team. In England, where the competition was not as tough as across the Atlantic, Ramza thrived and definitely showed glimpses of potential, with their team winning multiple nationwide tournaments, and even enjoying an undefeated season when Ramza was seventeen. However, it was not enough to earn a sports scholarship from any American universities. Ultimately, however, he ended up in Oregon for his university experience through his grades.

College career

As a freshman, Ramza mainly served as a backup, having to step in halfway through the season when the starting QB went down with an ACL tear. He was able to help the team break out of a losing slump, helping them almost clinch a place in the Rosebowl. His sophmore year saw more of the same, with the team relying on him as a backup for when games were looking bleak. Ultimately, this frustrating pursuit yielded positive results for Ramza as his efforts took the team all the way to the Rosebowl game. Unfortunately, he did not see the field until halfway into the fourth quarter, and a bitter 31-28 loss. Finally, in his junior year, Ramza was named as the starting QB and led the Ducks to a 10-3 record. His efforts culminated in the last Rosebowl game of his college career and a tight victory at 28-27. Having just come off the biggest game of his career, he has declared for the DSFL draft.

DSFL Season 21 (2036)

Suleiman Ramza was drafted with the 118th overall pick of the 2036 Developmental Simulation Football League draft by the Norfolk Seawolves. He was slated to work alongside Luke Skywalker. He primarily served as Skywalker’s backup, yet still played in all fourteen games of the regular season. Alongside Skywalker, Ramza was able to lead Norfolk’s offence, and the team as a unit to the most winningest record in franchise history at eight wins and six losses. During this regular season, Ramza set a franchise record for the regular season. He achieved the highest pass completion percentage by a Norfolk quarterback, with a completion percentage of fifty-nine and a half percent. Ultimately, this was enough to clinch the team a playoff berth. Ramza eventually ended up setting a franchise record for pass completion percentage in the playoffs with an eighty percent pass completion. Despite this, the Norfolk Seawolves were knocked out of the Southern Football Conference by the eventual Ultimini winners, the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers; seventeen to nothing. Ramza had his best game in a week twelve matchup against the Tijuana Luchadores. In that game, he completed nine out of twelve attempts for ninety-five yards; averaging ten and six tenths per carry. He managed a touchdown in the third quarter and finished with a quarterback rating of one hundred and twenty-five and three tenths. Ultimately, Ramza’s season can be described as a slow grind that saw an exponential increase as the season came to its conclusion. His future however looks bright as he heads into the National Simulation Football League Season Twenty-two draft, and as a staple in the Norfolk locker room.

DSFL Season 22 (2037)

Ramza spent the offseason working immensely to become a better quarterback. Sources say that his daily regiment consisted of waking up around the crack of dawn and working on honing his craft until the break of dusk. All of this culminated in Ramza winning the starting quarterback job in the offseason, finally getting his first chance to lead the Norfolk Seawolves.

The season started nicely with a seventeen to six win over the Tijuana Luchadores, before losing the next four games, with one of them being a shutout. During these games, Ramza was able to avoid causing any turnovers, but his efforts still were not enough to help the team succeed, and the success of the last season was starting to seem fleeting an unobtainable. But after travelling to Orange County for a couple days to work with his mentor, Franklin Armstrong, Ramza and the team performed considerably better, winning seven of their next nine games. Involved in these games included a fourth quarter, eleven point comeback against the Dallas Birddogs in week eleven. A game winning field goal with eight seconds remaining against the Portland Pythons. And of course, two overtime wars against the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, with the Seawolves winning both games, sweeping the Buccaneers and clinching a playoff berth in the process.

The playoffs certainly went better than last year, but an overtime loss is still a loss. In an incredible Southern Football Conference Game with Tijuana, the Norfolk Seawolves were unfortunately unable to achieve a finish in overtime, and yet again, failed to make the Ultimini. Next year seems to be the season where Norfolk can finally make it to the big game.

DSFL Season 23 (2038)

Season twenty-three represented a change for Ramza. A change in the offseason saw a long time friend of his, Seraj Comilla take over the running of the team. This change along with some overall roster changes, allowed Ramza to take more of a leading role in the team. He spent much of the offseason trying to work with the new Norfolk rookies to really build a chemistry. In addition, to support Norfolk’s run heavy offence, Ramza worked with Quanter Skrills and Captain Rogers to perfect handing the ball off, and perfect the fake handoff, and run pass option plays.

Norfolk’s season started incredibly, winning six of their first seven, and putting themselves in a position that they had not over the entirety of their existence. Although, a three game losing streak against the Grey Ducks, Coyotes and Royals put a dampener on spirits, Ramza was still able to lead Norfolk to a resounding four win rebound to close the season. The final record of ten wins and four losses will go down as the Norfolk Seawolves’ most winningest season in franchise history to date. For the first time in their history, the Seawolves would host a playoff game. In the Southern Football Conference Championship Game, the Norfolk Seawolves were able to build and maintain a strong lead against the Dallas Birddogs, to win the rubber match and the Conference championship, with a score of nineteen to seventeen. Whilst the Seawolves utilised a heavy run game, Ramza was able to remain perfect and avoid turning the ball over once.

Finally, in the Ultimini, Ramza had the distinction of scoring the game’s first touchdown, connecting with wide receiver Harley Fank. Once again, Ramza went without turning the ball over, completing nine out of his thirteen passes, and ensuring that the Seawolves offence would lead to a dominant win for their first ever championship. Truly, to hoist that trophy, surrounded by his teammates and friends was the greatest honour in his young career.
