Sam "Tank" Torenson (born July 7th, 2005) was an American football Running Back for the DSFL's Portland Pythons.

Early years

Sam Torenson was born in Clintonville, a small town in Wisconsin. Beginning as early as 5 years old family members started to remark at his strength as well as his athleticism for his size. Sam has always been “big boned”. He was very good hearted and protective of others throughout his high school career. Sam was pulled up to varsity as a freshman and began to dominate immediately. His first start as a varsity player came in just the 3rd game of the season and Sam registered 3 sacks in the first half! He would become the best football player the town had ever seen. He finished out the season strong and broke the school record of 8 sacks, finishing with 11 sacks as a freshman! He picked up sophomore season, right where he left off and continued his upward trajectory. He finished his senior season by breaking the sack record for a 4th straight year with a total of 19.

College career

Sam could not believe the competition when he arrived at NC. He was definitely not the fastest D-lineman anymore and though it was close he wasn’t even the strongest, something he had always been. Sam had always gotten by on talent alone, and though he worked hard around the farm he wasn’t much of a workout monster. It took 4 full years and it was a struggle almost the entire time but finally Sam got back to feeling like one the best on the field during his senior season. He had gone from relatively unknown recruiting bust to possibly being drafted. Sam feels good about how his college career turned out and hopes to continue stuffing running backs at the next level.
