Rich "Cheddar" Triplet (born October 14, 2016) is an American football cornerback that plays for the Arizona Outlaws. He played college football for Minnesota State University Mankato (MNSU), and professionally for the Tijuana Luchadores, and the San Jose Sabercats

Early years

Rich Triplet was born in Minneapolis Minnesota to his parents Beth, a talented musician and his father Middle-Class Triplet a humble wood worker. Growing up Rich always enjoyed watching football with his dad and mom, but he was different than most kids. Instead of scoring touchdowns he would rather score an interception. Rich was defensive minded from the start, even when playing peewee hockey he would rather check someone than try to score, that was just his mind set. Despite enjoying the game Rich did not start playing football until his freshman year of highschool, he was set to play linebacker from the onset due to his larger frame. Rich was a splash player yearly and was being scouted by the time he was a sophomore. Junior year Rich began making more and more splash plays on defense, his classmates began to call him Rich "Cheddar" In reference to the football video game having linebackers snag an interception on anything thrown over the middle. Rich had a nose for the football and the coaching staff new he was better suited as the back line defender than in the trenches, Rich was to play safety for the remainder of his junior year, getting an impressive 6 sacks, 13 TFL, 9 INTs, and 2 FF with 1 TD on the season, Rich's school would go on to win the state semi finals before losing in the championship game. Rich Triplet's senior year of high school had ups and downs for his football career, Rich was still to play safety due to his proficiency in running a zone defense, Rich would go on to have an impressive season similar to his last though due to playing back more his tackle stats were down. Rich ended the season with 3 Sacks, 9 TFL, and 12 INTs. Rich was being scouted by some of the Big10 schools, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota even Ohio showed interest. Alas Rich was also an 18 year old and 18 year olds are not the smartest. On New Years Eve Rich was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, although not arrested many bigger colleges saw this as a red flag and pulled their scholarships from him right away. Though one school did not pull out and believe in second chances, Rich finished the school year and went on to graduate and attend MNSU Mankato

College career

A true freshman in 2034 Rich was not a huge impact but did make some splash plays for the Mavericks, while playing FS Rich was allowed a lot of freedom, but that came with a lot of mistakes which lead to big plays from opposing offenses. Rich was frustrated, coming from the high school teams he played the D2 schools was a big jump for him. Ending the season with 2 INTs off tips and only 30 tackles, Rich lost his starting spot and went on to play special teams. Rich states that this was the best thing that ever happened to him, as he went on to discuss with the coaching staff a change on position, Rich had an ideal frame to play the position and made the move to CB over the offseason, due to lack of depth Rich became a starter and had ups and downs, in one game he broke the school single game INT record, while in another he broke the single game record for touchdowns allowed by a CB. Rich had the potential but had to grasp it, with an off season of training Rich went on to have a prolific Junior year at the smaller school and racked up an impressive statline for the season, 4 TFLs, 1 Sack, 11 INTs, 1 FF, 2TDs and a blocked kick. Rich was riding high, but something was missing, a championship.Rich had thought of transferring to Ohio, due to the new offers they gave him which would be an easier way to the ISFL. Rich opted to stay in Mankato as his friends, girl friend and life had started there. Rich wanted to bring a championship to the Mavericks, Rich came up just short in the D2 semifinals, no fault of his own though as Rich nabbed 2 INTs, got in for a sack, 3 TFLs, and a forced fumble. The fumble was not recovered however and could have been the true tipping point of the game. Rich in on record as stating "I should have played both sides that game, all I wanted was to give this city what it deserves." Rich has always had that mindset of getting the city what it deserves, that is what he plans to do in the ISFL.

After being drafted by the Tijuana Luchadores in 2039 (S24) Rich Triplet knew he was selected to a special team. The Tijuana Luchadores had a rough season the year prior and ended up going 6-8 selecting 4th overall in the draft. Quickly discovering some amazing rookies were being brought in Rich had a feeling it would be a special season. "We've got a great group of guys, Mith and Swanky have done a fantastic job keeping the legendary culture of Tijuana alive with this latest class. Will I get them fined for saying that?" Rich was quoted saying in his opening presser. Tijuana had no cornerbacks on the roster when Rich was taken 12th overall and Tijuana expected him to be a lockdown corner. There were ups and downs throughout the rookie's season, times where he let up big scores such as in the conference championships game against Norfolk Seawolves. He also had amazing games such as his week 9 performance against the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers where he shadowed TE Ne Mo and allowed no completions to him all game. After a week 1 dismantling of the Dallas Birddogs Rich Triplet yelled out, “There you go! There you go.” Quarterback Mike Boss JR gave a look of pleasant surprise. Defensive End Tex Wrecks yelled out, “We got an [expletive] squad now.” And before Doug Howlett hit the locker room door, former ISFL great Verso L'Alto hugged him and said, “Y’all look so different.” The Tijuana Luchadores knew they had something special in Tijuana and proceeded to go onto conquer the regular season. Stealing a game on the road against the Norfolk, Rich was quoted in the media stating "We beat them at their home and they beat us in ours, we run it back next week for a chance at greatness and I think we can do something really special with this class." Unfortunately for Rich that special moment never came. The game against Norfolk Seawolves went to overtime and was a nail biter but the Tijuana Luchadores were unable to secure a trip to the Ultimini. When asked for questions about weather he would stay or go after the upcoming ISFL draft Rich was quoted stating "It really isn't my call, it depends on the situation that I end up in and what my team at the next level needs from me. If they want me to come up I will, but I would love an opportunity to run it back with these guys and try to give Tijuana their eighth championship."

S25

In 2040 (S25) Rich Triplet was allowed by his ISFL team the San Jose Sabercats to stay down in Tijuana for one last season. While poised to look like a super team with many send downs Tijuana did not look like the super team everyone thought. With losing all their linebackers and wide receivers due to a surprise call up of classmate Mark Walker Tijuana had growing pains to start the season and didn't look great until late. The defense was great while the offense looked very meh. Following a 30-9 loss against the London Royals Rich Triplet was overhead in the locker room saying “He got me,” Triplet said of Tugg Speedman's catch over him. "That f***ing Speedman boomed me." Triplet added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times. Triplet then said he wanted to add Speedman to the list of players he works out with this summer. The Tijuana Luchadores ended the season 6-8, the team felt deflated and during a week 10 practice Rich Triplet was seen in a heated argument with teammate and friend Quavious McGrady shoving occurred and practice was canceled for the day. When asked about what happened Rich Triplet had no comment. Despite the heated argument following a loss to Dallas Tijuana looked to be on thin ice. Triplet was heard in the locker room giving a speech that anything can happen once you're in, "We're the road warriors this year, we've seen that homefield advantage doesn't mean squat in this league. We lost last year at home, so let's get in and make the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers feel that same sensation. Tijuana ended up getting their offense going at the right time, scoring 31 points against Norfolk Seawolves while only allowing 7. Unfortunately Tijuana did not end the season great. With a preview of their first playoff game, Tijuana lost to Myrtle Beach Buccaneers 44-9. Rich Triplet for some reason was smiling in his press conference after allowing such points, when asked why he said "You'll see next week." That they did as Tijuana would travel to Myrtle Beach and steal an overtime win against the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers with his eyes on the prize Rich Triplet went out and had one of the worse games of his entire career in the Ultimini. Fortunately for him football is a team sport and the Tijuana Luchadores ended up winning while scoring 42 points in the Ultimini, most in history. When interviewed after Rich was unable to speak properly due to his rapid consumption of tequila after the game. Rich was happy to be part of such a wonderful organization and turned his eyes to his ISFL team that was going to call him up, and was also coming off of back to back championships, the San Jose Sabercats.

ISFL Career

San Jose Sabercats

S26

Rich would be called up following the Ultimini victory with the Tijuana Luchadores and would come in to a San Jose team loaded with talent coming off back to back victories in the Ultimus. Rich joined fellow draftmates in Raylan Crowder and Xmus Jaxon-Waxon in becoming the young faces of the franchise in such a loaded class. Rich had to earn his stripes in a loaded back field however, with only 5 DB spots to play and 6 on the roster Rich often times found himself playing linebacker due to the crowded back-end. However he did his best with what opportunities he had. Rich's rookie year in the ISFL was very similar to his rookie year in the DSFL having the same amount of interceptions and pass deflections. However due to his time in the box Rich was able to rack up many tackles, including two for a loss which was not his usual MO. "It's not really a position I'm the most comfortable with, personally I think I'm the best corner on the team and should be playing outside, but I'm not paid to gameplan, I'm paid to ball and that's what I'll do." Rich finished his rookie season but was rather distraught as the San Jose Sabercats went 8-8 losing one of their final games to the Honolulu Hahalua, had they won that one the team would have been the first seed. "We just weren't good enough to be completely honest, half the division goes 9-7 and we couldn't find that ninth win. We don't deserve to be in the playoffs. This team fights though, we'll be back next season.

S27

Following the disappointing season Rich made it known to coaching staff and front office alike that he should not be inside the box in any defensive formations and that he was the best cornerback on the team. While not the oldest corner on the team he had earned the respect and showed the ability to be the number one option on the team. Rich took the challenge with nothing but smiles, and the team was paid back largely with Rich's play on the field. While a mediocre season splitting time between corner and linebacker the season prior Rich was quickly showing himself to be a top talent in the league. In the opening game against the Arizona Outlaws Rich Triplet welcomed rookie quarterback Charlemagne Cortez to the ISFL by getting an interception and a pass defense in the first game, while wiping away his number one receiver Taro Raimon holding him to only 20 yards on 5 targets. A fluke he was called as he had a few quiet games after that as the San Jose Sabercats went to split the first 4 games opening 2-2. With an upcoming game against New York Silverbacks the Sabercats could have been in trouble, knowing they needed a win Rich promised the team he would not allow a single point. The team did just that off of Rich's defensive performance of the year nominated game, securing 6 tackles, 5 pass defenses, and 2 interceptions. All while holding reigning Offensive Breakout Player of the Year Jackson Kingston to just 3 catches for 25 yards on 12 targets. When asked how he thought he matched up with Kingston before the game, “I don’t compare myself with anybody,” Then he rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of the Breakout Player of the Year award. “I’ll let you interpret that however you want,” Triplet said. After this game the Sabercats looked to be on a hotstreak but faltered down the stretch losing a heart breaking overtime game against the Honolulu Hahalua leading to an outbreak with teammate Xmus Jaxon-Waxon in which punches were thrown Rich decided that the relationship and his status with the team was over. "You (bleeping) need me. You can't win without me." Triplet left teammates and coaches largely speechless. Rich went into free agency and ultimately signed with the Arizona Outlaws stating that playing San Jose Sabercats twice a season was a factor in his decision to sign with the conference rival. "I'm an outlaw now, it feels good to be wanted dead or alive." Rich was nominated for the S27 Cornerback of the Year award, Defensive Breakout Player of the Year, and Defensive Performance of the Year but failed to pull in any awards. Triplet was able to celebrate his first pro bowl appearance however, being selected with 10/14 votes.

Arizona Outlaws

S28

The first season with the Arizona Outlaws went exactly as Rich had hoped. Immediately making an impact with his fellow cornerbacks, Tayshawn Crunk, Desmond Scarlet, and Mason Gillion. The Outlaws team went from great to spectacular, Rich's historic season did not hurt in that regard either. Rich started the season slow, with less than 10 passes defended in the first 4 games. A media piece presented by Collin Cowherd was then launched to slander and attack Rich's character. Rich immediately took note of this attack in addition to the smack talk from former teammate Doy Fieri reignited Rich's season. Rich would go on to post one of the best seasons by a cornerback the ISFL had seen up until this point. It all started with a legendary performance against the New York Silverbacks in week 7. Rich Triplet would lock down fellow Lavelle Sports Group client Jackson Kingston in the performance, stating before the game occurred that the Outlaws would win and it would not be close. Rich ended up tying the single game pass defense record in this game with 8 passes defended along with an interception all while holding Kingsotn to 5 catches for 54 yards on 20 targets. Allowing no touchdowns on the day as the Outlaws secured the victory 37 - 6. The Outlaws ended the season 12-4 while Rich ended his season with a record shattering 46 passes defended breaking his draft-classmate Albert Ruschmann that was set the year prior. However, not everything was sunshine and rainbows for the Outlaws as they secured a first round bye that ended in a loss to the Austin Copperheads, emotions raged in the Outlalws locker room. At one point there was a meeting with Deadly Memes, the Arizona Outlaws GM at the time, that was “intense” and “at one point Tayshawn Crunk was crying” but everyone grew closer and a big lesson was learned. Rich assumed he could at least look forward to gold on awards night, but lost 8-6 against fellow cornerback Harrison Andrews though the legitimacy of these votes come to question Rich looked forward to bounce back the following season.

S29

Coming off of what was one of the most dominant seasons by a cornerback in the past decade, Triplet had expressed some disgruntled feelings due to awards voting but took solace in being the first and only unanimously first team all-pro voted cornerback on the season. However, Rich did not live up to the expectations he had set for himself from the year prior. Netting zero interceptions for the first time in a season Rich ended the season with career lows in interceptions, punt return average, and PDs (while being played at cornerback.) a disappointment to say the least. Triplet took pride in the fact that his team went 11-5 in the regular season, enough for the number one seed in the ASFC. Nicknamed the "Faith giver" in the locker room Triplet made it his mission to not allow his Outlaw teammates to feel victim to a curse, and made it known that they would break out of the rut the team had long been stuck in. This faith ultimately amounted to nothing more than empty words as the Outlaws fell victim to the Ultimus winning New York Silverbacks in the conference championship game. A disappointing season to be sure and while rumors of disgruntlement in the locker room swelled Rich quickly stomped them out. "We are focused on next season and next season alone, can't change the past can only look to be better next year."

S30

2045 (S30) saw some positives in Triplet's performance, mainly getting back to his goal of averaging 30+ pass deflections a season, but where he really stood out was how he played as a unit. After leaving the Luchadore's Triplet had a mercenary like mindset, playing as an individual rather as a unit and this lead to positive's but also rather bad negatives. This year was different, Triplet and the Outlaws showed the entire league they were done messing around. Helping to lead a defense staunch with veterans from the 2040 (S25) draft, Triplet, Tayshawn Crunk, Chuck Roth, and L'Gazzy Burfict helped lead to one of the league's best defense seen in years. Allowing less than 300 points in 16 games is no easy feat yet they were able to come together and shot opposing offenses down. Turning over possessions to allow for their offense to become the highest scoring offense in league history. The Outlaws and Triplet were set with the first seed and a 14-2 record, facing off against New York Silverbacks once again the Outlaws rewrote history crushing the club 33-0. Triplet snagged his first interception in two seasons in that game and was well prepared to face the Sarasota Sailfish in the Ultimus. Facing off against longtime friend Jackson Kingston and a man he won the Ultimini with not too long before in Mike Boss Jr.. Triplet and the Outlaws would fall short, the game was close and Triplet covered Kingston well until a strange play call gave Triplet a blitz assignment leaving Kingston open for a 62 yard touchdown that would seal the game. Triplet had only allowed 4 catches for 25 yards prior to that play. The coaching staff for AZ who had been phenomenal all season lost this game. Triplet refocused himself and set off to the cold lands of Canada to train with legendary cornerback Dermot Lavelle and Dermot Lavelle Jr., tradition he had abandoned since the son retired, it was time for Triplet to refocus his chi.

S31

2046 (S31) was a very productive season for the veteran corner. At this point in his career he was entering his 4th season with the ISFL and had become a leader both on and off the field. With Rich's work in the community in building community centers for the youth to get them off the screens and onto the field, court or gym. Rich had grown to love Arizona, a state where he went for a job, but stayed for the community. Rich was named captain of the Outlaws and in that same season his son Rich Triplet Jr. was born, while he was a long way from being able to tell if he will become an athlete or not Rich was happy none the less. Rich proved worthy of his captaincy throughout the season getting five interceptions, thirty pass deflections on top of three forced fumbles. The ISFL struggled in 2046 (S31) falling from their usual dominance and ending the season 9-7 which was still good enough for the second seed. Rich and the outlaws however failed again in the post-season being bounced by the eventual ultimus champions ISFL in the first round. Rich had not seen post-season success since his time in ISFL and while frustrated made it known he would not be leaving the team. "Arizona is my home for the foreseeable future and as long as the Outlaw's organization will have me, I will be playing for them. We're a long way from contract talks and my free agency and as far as I'm concerned I am only worried about moving onto next season and getting better as a unit."

S32

2047 (S32) was a bittersweet season for Rich, individually this may have been Rich's most decorated season, however the ISFL's struggles continued. Rich with now found motivation made a promise to the Outlaws organization, while he could not promise them victories, he could not promise them championships, he could promise them one thing. "I am going to be the best corner in the ISFL this season, I have no doubts about that, I got nothing but respect for Harrison Andrews, Willie Miller and Albert Ruschmann but this is my season, I did it a few years ago where, I thought at least, I was the best but voters thought different. This season it's mine." Rich would go on to self-fulfill this prophecy. Taking home the 2047 (S32) ISFL Cornerback of the Year award. The ISFL's on the backs of Gunner Thorbjornsson and future hall of fame running back Tatsu Nakamura went 12-4 and had a great run but were again defeated in the conference championship game against ISFL's who would go on to again win the Ultimus. "I'm only getting older, you know Charlemagne Cortez says he's hanging it up next season and we have a great young guy in Wendell Sailor to fill in those shoes but it's hard to win in this league man. I just want to bring a championship to this franchise everyone says is cursed, while I thank the awards committee for giving me this award, at this point I want to get the ring. If that means taking a back seat so be it, it's time we give Arizona a ring it's worked so hard to earn."

S33

2048 (S33) was perhaps one of the oddest seasons seen by a cornerback in quite sometime, Rich's production dipped in some ways but rose in others. Rich was nominated for a ISFL Cornerback of the Year award yet he ended the season with a measly one interception and twenty five pass deflections, far below his goal of thirty a season. Rich however excelled in one thing in particular, forcing fumbles, Rich would have large amounts of trouble in coverage this season with the rise of newer, younger receivers who were beginning to get quicker than he could keep up with. Allowing 70% of catches to be caught his way, but he reminded these receivers of what it was like to play against a grown man, forcing eight fumbles on the season and recovering four. Which would have tied a league record had it not been broken that same season by Melvin Murder-Moose, Rich was happy with his performance but again personal triumphs did not lead to team success come post-season. With a 12-4 record, ISFL would face off against ISFL with the cornerback of the year, and draft mate Richard Leaking who Rich was great friends with and ultimately come up short in the conference championship game yet again.

S34

2049 (S34) was another good but not great season by Triplet, while not as good as he was just a few seasons ago he was still a solid cover corner for the Outlaws. Meeting the top threats in the league one on one despite his age, Triplet knew that he was still one of the greatest on the fields. Racking up a respectable stat line of three interceptions along with twenty-seven pass deflections Triplet was happy. He had accomplished his dream, he became that all time leader in pass deflections in the history of the ISFL. "I couldn't be more happy man, to pass a legend like Lavelle, a guy who helped train me up to become of the best and following in him and his son's footsteps was a true blessing for me. I hope that the Triplet bloodline will become another one of the respected families in the league man, I'm still in awe." When asked for comments if he has any fear about anyone else passing him Triplet stated, "Only real dude I worry about is my guy Albert Ruschamnn I don't think anyone else around is on the level like he is but shoot he's getting old too man!" However, the season wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for Triplet as the Arizona Outlaws once again faced hardships in the post season, after posing a near shut-out against New Orleans Second Line the Outlaws faced a challenge in Honolulu Hahalua a game in which they lost 41-28 after a complete 4th quarter meltdown. Despite the hardships Triplet signed a contract extension and was quoted as stating "I started my career in red, and I plan on ending it in red. Arizona has become my home and I plan for it to stay that way for the rest of my playing days."

S35

Triplet, now 34 years old in 2050 (S35), knew his playing days were beginning to be behind him. Triplet was seen struggling in training camp against the talented receiving core in Arizona with players such as Kotoni Staggs & Quinton Crash torching him in practice for long gains and even Billy Stinkwater getting some go routes done against him. "It's all just letting them build confidence." Triplet said with a wink "I know they're good but they're my teammates and I'm saving my energy for the regular season." Rich proved he had something left in the tank during the season as he broke the three hundred pass deflections marker, in week 16 of the regular season no less, the first and only corner to do so at this point. "What did Kanye say? Keep it 300 like the Romans? It's a dream come true but the seasons not over yet and we've got work to do in the playoffs." Rich ended the season with 2 interceptions, one that went for a touchdown and thirty-two pass deflections. However his catch rate was questionable at 70% Triplet still put on a good performance, helping to move past Orange County Otters but ultimately fell short to the Honolulu Hahalua. "We did what we could and keep falling short but we keep getting here, just gotta get over that hump." Triplet turning 34 next season was asked about his plans to continue playing "I still have some fight left in me, I might take a reduced role but I can always help mentor the young guys like CMC's Burner. We'll see what happens."

S36

In 2051 (S36) Triplet moved inside and began playing slot corner for the Outlaws. "I feel like this is a good role for me, I still have the knowledge and speed to play inside, I got some techniques a lot of these guys don't know about so I'm glad to be able to help our defense playing against some of the younger corners. Lord knows I like going after the run so this just feels naturally at this point in my career." Triplet was overtaken by CMC's Burner and Spottie O'Dopaliscious on the depth chart and was quoted as saying "Honestly I couldn't be happier, as someone who's been here for eight seasons now seeing these young dudes take over for me, it's great to see their progress." Triplet did not play nearly as many snaps as he did in seasons prior but was still an impact player for the Outlaws. In week 9 of the regular season Triplet grabbed two interceptions against the young Quarterback Carter Knight and took one to the house. Staring down Carter as he got into the endzone after the 79 yard return Triplet's return was a huge reason that the Outlaws won that game. This was his second pick of the game after the first came with 40 seconds left in the first half setting up an Outlaws field goal. After the game Triplet shook hands with the quarterback letting him know he respects his game. Triplet posted those two interceptions and fifteen pass deflections in the season along with getting his first ever sack. Triplet would go forward with the Outlaws into the postseason as the third seed for the first time in his run with them. They would face his old team in the San Jose Sabercats despite playing in the slot Rich would put on a performance capping it off with an interception with 30 seconds left in the game to secure a victory. After walking off the field Rich waived good-bye to the fans of the Sabercats as he was booed, all with a smile on his face. This high would not last as the Outlaws were defeated again by conference rival Honolulu Hahalua in the conference championship. When asked about his future Rich refused to comment.
