Puddles "Duck of the Year" O'Duck (born August 4, 1948) is an American football quarterback who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He cheered for the college football team for University of Oregon (UO) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Puddles O'Duck was not really born, but more conceived in the year 1947. His similarly looking brother, Donald had already been around for a long time in the magical world of Walt Disney. Oregon athletic director Leo Harris met with his good friend Walt Disney and provided the information on how to create such a large anthropomorphic duck. Together, they created Puddles. So, to put it into a human concept to it, Puddles has a Father (Leo) and an Uncle (Walt). He never had a mother. Due to Leo and Walt's great friendship, there was never any issue with Puddles being very similar to Donald...until the lawyers got involved. There was a settlement in 1973 that allowed Puddles to remain in existence after the University was able to prove Walt did not take umbrage to the similarities between Puddles and Donald. However, Disney kept the rights to when and where Puddles was allowed to be. That remained in place until 2010, when Disney and the University agreed that Puddles could make more public appearances without the consent of Disney. This set Puddles free and he started entering mascot competitions and becoming the world known mascot that he is today.

College career

Puddles never really played college football, but he does have quite the college resume. During the 2007 season opener, Puddles got into a fistfight with Shasta, the mascot for the Houston Cougars, for seemingly mimicking the duck's routine of doing push-ups after the mascot's team scores. Footage of the attack became very popular on YouTube for several weeks. Puddles was suspended for a game and the student inside the costume received an unspecified punishment. Puddles disagrees with the punishment to this day stating ""he was askin' for it".

During the 2009 football season, students of the university created a video, I Love My Ducks, in which The Duck made an appearance. Due to the agreement with Disney in place at the time, the creators had to remove the video from YouTube. However, by that time, the video had "gone viral" and coach Chip Kelly requested the video be played at the Ducks' final game of that season, the Civil War.

During the COVID years, Puddles joined the SHL as there was no mascotting to be done. He is near retirement for his longtime team, the Atlanta Inferno, and would like to give his true love, football a try. Skipping all college eligibility and jumping straight to the draft should be interesting."
