Madison Hayes (born October 10, 2019) is an American football running back and wide receiver for the Minnesota Grey Ducks of the DSFL. She also has played rugby union on the English senior women's squad and served as an alternate for the English track and field 4x100 relay while attending the University of Cambridge.

Early years

Madison Elizabeth Hayes was born in Cambridge, England, on October 10th, 2109, to Eliza and Matthew Hayes. Her parents both academics, she showed excellence in the classroom from a young age, reading at a secondary level at the age of 8. She didn't begin to emerge as an athlete until turning 12 and joining the school track and field team. She soon found her way on to the school rugby team as well, where her combination of size and speed were a blessing. She began playing rugby at a club level soon after, but kept training as a sprinter as well, eventually locking in a spot as an alternate on both the English women's rugby team and the Olympic 4x100 squad in 2036 as she prepared to start her first year at university. She didn't make her debut in either that year though, although she started to see rugby caps in 2038.

College and pre-football career

At Cambridge, Madison initially found it hard to adjust to the heavier load of studies combined with the increase in her training for both track and rugby. The young sprinter struggled to find improvements on the field for the first year of university, leaving her as an alternate until she broke through to the senior roster in 2038. She debuted for the senior women that year, and made an immediate name for herself, scoring two tries in a friendly against Italy. She appeared in 2 more matches in 2038 but struggled at times to hit the lofty expectations she and others set for herself, securing only a few tackles and having a larger number of unforced errors than anyone else on the team. 2039 was a different story though as she found her stride in the classroom, on the track, and most notably on the pitch. She secured a starting role with the senior womens team as a winger and led the Red Roses in scoring at the Six Nations with a tournament best 5 tries, securing another Grand Slam for the women. With two of her countrywomen coming back from long stints of injury the national team seems set for the near future, and Hayes has shocked both the American football scene and the international rugby scene by announcing her desire to try her hand at monetizing her talents and trying to jump sports with the completion of her pharmacy degree at Cambridge.

Professional career

Developmental Simulation Football League

Hayes declared for the DSFL draft as a wide receiver after the 2040-2041 season trade deadline, making her eligible to be claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Grey Ducks for an extended pre-draft workout and a chance to adjust to the American game. Her raw ability was apparent as she regularly worked her way open but occasionally was betrayed by her lack of familiarly with the game on her way to a respectable 6 catches and touchdown during Minnesota's playoff push.

DSFL scouts took notes of Hayes's rapid improvement in Minnesota as well as her innate athleticism and ability as a ball carrier, and she was regarded as a concensus first round talent going in to the 2041 DSFL draft. Madison was the second reciever taken in the draft, Minnesota taking her with the 5th overall pick.

Hayes debued in the preseason as a running back however, where she would play the entire season. She gained 80 all purpose yards and scored a touchdown in here debut game with the Grey Ducks.
