Joey Marston (born October 5, 2020) is an American football tight end who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Auburn University and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Joseph Lewis "Joey" Marston was born in Lithia, Florida (suburbs of Tampa, FL) on October 5th, 2020 to parents Gregory and Julia Marston. He is the youngest of three children; 7 years between him and his eldest brother Daniel Jacob "Danny" Marston, and 2.5 years between Joey and elder sister Nicole Marie Marston. Growing up, Joey was frequently coached by his father (currently University of Tampa Head Football Coach) after school and regular sports practices. His mother was supportive and kept him focused academically. He had a friendly but competitive rapport with Danny, despite the elder's early pursuit of professional hockey that frequently took him away from home in Florida. His sister Nicole, while closer in age, was more distant in interests; their interactions are strained by lack of common ground in personality and perceived slights due to Joey's pursuit of football hindering his sister's efforts to pursue her own interests. In high school, Joey played tight end for the Newsome High School Huskies football team, as well as short stop for their baseball team. It seemed for most of his high school career that Joey enjoyed baseball more than football and would pursue college baseball and the PBE league. His intentions flipped late in his senior year of high school when he was approached by multiple schools with scholarships for football that were far more valuable than the offers for baseball. Major offers came from Florida, Florida State, Auburn, and Boston College. Ultimately, he decided on Auburn University for their openness to allowing him to switch to baseball if football wasn't working out, as well as their campus and lack of history with the Marston family.

College career

Marston's college career at Auburn was nothing short of stellar by SEC receiver standards. Despite redshirting in his freshman season and limited touches through his sophomore season, Joey Marston exploded onto the scene in his junior season with 23 receptions for 438 yards and 5 touchdowns. He quickly became a fan favorite for his strong hands and gait, foot speed, and media charm. The trend continued through his senior and redshirt senior seasons with the Tigers. As a captain for Auburn, Marston pulled in 25 receptions for 526 yards and 7 touchdowns in his senior season, and 20 receptions for 487 yards and 6 touchdowns in his 5th season. The Tigers won the SEC West, SEC Conference Championship, and 2040 Sugar Bowl with Marston playing a considerable role, and made a considerable effort in a close 2041 College Football Championship against Ohio State. In his last season, the Tigers again won the SEC, but lost in the 2042 Cotton Bowl to Washington. His total collegiate career stats are 68 receptions, 1451 yards, 18 touchdowns, and a career-long 69 yard reception. He is considered one of the best Auburn receivers of the modern era.
