Early years

Born in Augusta, Georgia, Joe Blaze grew up immersed in the world of football. His father, William Blaze, a former college football player, and his mother, Madelyn Blaze, nurtured his love for the game from a young age. With one sibling, Joe thrived in a household filled with competition.

In high school, Joe played as a quarterback. As a standout athlete for the Augusta High School Panthers, he exhibited exceptional talent and leadership, leading his team to a state championship with his arm and his strategic prowess. He did this in back to back years. Off the field, Joe balanced his athletic pursuits with academic excellence, setting the stage for a promising future in football.

College career

Joe Blaze's collegiate football journey began with a full scholarship to Kent State University, where he seized the opportunity to continue honing his skills on the football field. Despite receiving offers from numerous schools, Blaze ultimately chose Kent State for its strong football program and renowned academic offerings.

Blaze's freshman year at Kent State started with him as a backup quarterback, waiting for his chance to lead the offense. However, when multiple injuries created a void in the safety position, Blaze jumped in to fill the need.

His transition wasn’t without growing pains, but Blaze quickly made an impact as a safety. Blaze credited his time as a quarterback for his uncanny ability to read plays. This, combined with his knack for delivering bone-crushing tackles earned him the respect of his teammates and coaches alike.

Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new position, Blaze thrived. His contributions were instrumental in the team's success, earning him recognition as a true leader on the field.

Throughout his four years at Kent State, Blaze continued to excel, leaving an indelible mark on the Kent State football program. In his final season, Blaze set the college football world on fire when he tallied up 120 tackles, 9 interceptions, and 5 forced fumbles.
