Career highlights and awards

Jay Cue Jr. (born February 28, 2023) is an American football Running Back for the Arizona Outlaws of the International Simulation Football League (ISFL).

Early years

Jay Cue Jr. was born in Lisbon, Portugal. Son of Jaymison Jay Cue and unknown mother, he is also the the nephew of ISFL QB Legend Jay Cue. Cue Jr. lived in Lisbon until he was 15 and then, with his father losing his job as a Head Coach in the Portuguese American Football League due to some altercations with the club President, they left the country and got back to the United States. Being from the Chicago area, Jaymison Cue decided to enroll his son in Arlington Heights High School, one of the few that offered Cue Jr. a place to study. Being close to his father during his Football coaching days, Cue Jr. soon became interested in the game, so he decided to try out for his Highschool team, the Arlington Heighs Yellowjackets. The tryout was a success, earning him a spot on the team at his favorite position, Running Back. With the team buried in the bottom part of the rankings, he soon became a star for them, getting them from a 1 - 4 record, to a final 6 - 5 regular season record. While missing the playoffs, he racked up very good stats, making him a sought after prospect for a lot of the Chicago area teams. With DeVry University offering him a full ride scholarship to his preferred area of studies in Accounting & Finance, he decided to join them, becoming a DeVry Cavalier.

College career

With his Campus arrival, the Cavaliers ranking skyrocketed. Cue Jr. started right from the spot as a true freshman, helping the team to a 9 - 2 record, taking the Cavaliers to the playoffs for the first time in history. His numbers were the best ever on the team and state, with 2232 all purpose yards and 39 touchdowns. His second season was pretty similar to the first one, with the Cavaliers going 8 - 3, but with Cue Jr. racking up 2485 all purpose yards and 41 Touchdowns. Not only did he dominate in yards and scores, but he was also a big part of the blocking game, helping his Offensive Line in protecting the QB. After his Sophomore season, he decided to leave college early, declaring for the DSFL draft. With him finishing his degree while the DSFL season was around halfway, he would be picked in waivers by the Norfolk Seawolves for the remainder of the season, and becoming available for the DSFL Draft at the start of the following season.

Professional career

2042 DSFL Season (S27)

After becoming available in the DSFL Waivers, Jay Cue Jr. was picked up by the Norfolk Seawolves, allowing him to play in their 2 last regular season games. The season was not very good at all for the Seawolves, finishing dead last in the South Conference with a 4 - 10 record, not reaching the playoffs. Cue Jr. still managed to get a few snaps, running for 41 yards and one reception for 18 yards, with no touchdowns. Their fellow conference team Dallas Birddogs would go on to eventually win the Ultimini, with a 23 - 21 win over the Kansas City Coyotes. While the season was not that great for the team and individually, at least it showed the entire world that he was a great fit for the team and the league. Coming from the DeVry University was getting him some odd looks by the scouts and general managers, but after getting on the field, all of that dissipated. When you have the talent, you have it, no matter where you came from.

2043 DSFL Season (S28)

After playing in only a couple of games for the Norfolk Seawolves (Weeks 13 and 14) in the previous season, Jay Cue Jr. entered the Season 28 DSFL Draft on a high, with mock drafts predicting him to go in the Top 3 picks. With their last place in the league and their previous season record of 4 - 10, the Seawolves had the first overall pick in the draft and decided to take Cue Jr., bringing him back to the locker room. They also drafted Dante King, another running back with similar stats as Cue, hoping that their destructive running game would bring them glory. Unfortunately, that was the opposite of what happened, as Norfolk finished the league again in last place, with an abysmal 1 - 13 record. Funnily enough, their only win of the entire season came in Week 1, against the defending champions Dallas Birddogs, 31 - 28. It was their only high point of the season, as they went for 13 straight losses after. Stat wise, Cue Jr. ran for 817 yards and 5 touchdowns, which is not bad at all for a struggling team.

2044 ISFL Season (S29)

After 16 games in the Minor League, Jay Cue Jr. declared for the ISFL Draft with high hopes. Some reports came out that he did very well in all the interviews and scouting messages he had with the teams, so mock drafts had him locked for a Top 3 pick, at most Top 5. During draft day, perhaps with some late reports coming out that he was demanding to be called up immediately that scared of a few teams, he started dropping in the lists. With 10 picks already made, the Berlin Fire Salamanders were on the clock with the 11th overall pick and decided to make a trade with the Yellowknife Wraiths that saw a few picks change hands. And with the 11th overall pick, the Wraiths decided to select Jay Cue Jr, just ahead of the Arizona Outlaws (who had the 12th pick) and were one of the favorites to land the player. The Canadian team decided to fulfill Cue Jr. wishes, calling him up to the major league in Season 29, where the finished 4th in the NSFC with a 10 - 6 record, narrowly missing the playoffs by 1 win, as the Sarasota Sailfish finished with 11 - 5 in 3rd place. Jay had a pretty underwhelming season, as we was only RB2 in the team, with 520 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. Adding to that he also had 325 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.

2045 ISFL Season (S30)

Season 30 saw Jay Cue Jr. take the lead on the running back depth chart, with the Yellowknife Wraiths making him RB1, ahead of Acura Skyline who decided to take a step back of the game. The regular season was pretty good for the Wraiths, finishing second on the NSFC with a 10 - 6 record, 1 win behind the eventual Ultimus winners, the Sarasota Sailfish with 11 - 5. Unfortunately for Cue Jr. and the Wraiths, they were unable to beat the 9 - 7 Berlin Fire Salamanders in the wildcard round, meaning that a promising season was cut short with Cue Jr. still chasing his first playoff win. Individually, and while Yellowknife managed to have a pretty decent season, Cue was not the offensive weapon they were expecting for sure. He finished the season with only 663 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns, adding to that only 348 receiving yards and 1 touchdown, numbers that were completely average league wise.

2046 ISFL Season (S31)

Season 31 marked the start of a rebuilding phase for the Yellowknife Wraiths. With a lot of players retiring and/or leaving the team, Cue took a step forward trying to lead the team and get them into the playoffs. It was definitely a hard task, as most pundits had the Wraiths completely out of the playoff run, but the team was in a positive mood. Unfortunately for them, they finished the season with a .500 record (8 - 8), good for only 4th place in the always competitive NSFC. Three straight losses, between weeks 11 and 13, against the Sarasota Sailfish, the Honolulu Hahalua and the Berlin Fire Salamanders marked their faith, leaving them out of the post season. As for Cue Jr., he finally stepped up his game and became one of the top Running Backs in the league, rushing for 1515 yards and a career high 16 touchdowns, adding to that 461 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. These numbers earned him a pro bowl nod, his first, playing for the NSFC team and the Offensive Breakout Player of the Year Award.

2047 ISFL Season (S32)

Season 32 was a very eventful one for Jay Cue Jr. Starting his fourth season for the Yellowknife Wraiths, the rebuilding striked even harder than last season. Yellowknife was dead last in the NSFC right of the bat, courtesy of a 0 - 4 start that showed them that the team was not really close enough to compete with their opponents. This prompted something nobody really expected, a Cue trade request. With the team being heavy into a rebuilding phase, Cue decided he had to try and get a place in a team that fighted for the playoffs in a regular fashion. Credit due, the Wraiths understood his wishes and managed to secure a new team for him on trade deadline, where the Berlin Fire Salamanders sent a Season 34 first rounder (Becomes S34 R2 if Jay Cue Jr. is not on Berlin's roster at the Season 33 Trade Deadline), a 3rd of BER/CHI/SAR/HON S33 R2 (first two to OCO, last to BAL), running back Terry Yaki and wide receiver Bradley Welch to Yellowknife, in exchange for Jay Cue Jr.

This meant that Cue Jr. was going to share the backfield with Goat Tank, trying to get a ultimus win. Berlin did very well in the regular season, finishing second in the NSFC behind the Philadelphia Liberty, but with the same record, 11 - 5. This meant they would face the 9 - 7 Sarasota Sailfish in the wildcard round, and they beat them 34 - 17. The Liberty were waiting for them on the conference final game, and Berlin managed to beat them in Philly, 16 - 12, meaning that Cue Jr. would be in an Ultimus game for the first time in his career. On that game, Cue rushed only 8 times for 10 yards, but got a touchdown, on a game Berlin lost against the New York Silverbacks, 24 - 27. Heartbreak for Cue and the Fire Salamanders.

The offseason also brought some changes, as Cue decided he was going to test free agency, but eventually came to an agreement with the Salamanders front office that he would accept a trade to the Arizona Outlaws for a Season 35 Round 2 best/worst pick swap.

2048 ISFL Season (S33)

Season 33 marked Cue Jr. first starts for this father old alma mater, the Arizona Outlaws. And the Phoenix team was again the regular season champion, finishing it with a 12 - 4 record, 3 wins ahead of the Orange County Otters, that finished second in the ASFC with a 9 - 4 record. Jay was the teams workhorse, finishing with 1429 rushing yards (3rd in the league) and 12 touchdowns (5th), adding to that 598 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Not a bad season by any means, but still a bit underwhelming, as he spent a few consecutive uneventful games mid season without a single touchdown. After a first round bye in the playoffs, the Arizona Outlaws faced the Otters once more, a team that had already beaten them in the regular season. And, once again, Arizona and Cue could not shake away their playoff curse, getting smacked 29 - 34. A close score in the end, but with 7 minutes to go in the game, they trailed 16 - 34, so the game was not really close to being turned on its head. The Cue family playoff curse remains active it would seem.

2049 ISFL Season (S34)

Season 34 was very good for Cue Jr, individually. He was the workhorse for the Arizona Outlaws rushing offense, going for 370 attempts and 1652 yards, racking up an incredible 19 rushing touchdowns, his career high at the time. Receiving wise he was not as prolific as the season before, only getting 53 receptions, good for 489 yards and only 2 touchdowns, half of what he managed to get the season before. As for his team, the Outlaws usual regular season dominance did not happen this time. They finished second in the ASFC with a 10 - 5 - 1 record, behind the 11- 5 of the conference winners, the Honolulu Hahalua. This meant they would face the New Orleans Second Line in the wildcard round, with the Outlaws winning that game 30 - 3, with Cue running for 138 yards and 1 touchdown. So, they faced the Hahalua in the conference championship, a team that had beaten them twice in the regular season, and unfortunately for Arizona fans, the third faceoff went the exact same way. Even though it was a close game until the 4th quarter, with the Outlaws even getting ahead 28 - 24 with 11 minutes to go, they would go and allow 17 unanswered points in about 5 minutes, losing 28 - 41.

Even though the season ended in another playoff heartbreak for Cue Jr., individually he got exactly what he was searching since the start of his career. His numbers were outstanding, and despite strong competition, he was elected the ISFL Most Valuable Player Award of Season 34. Adding to that prestigious award, he also won the ISFL Running Back of the Year Award and the ISFL Most Outstanding Player, tied with Colorado Yeti Player, Live Laughlove.

2050 ISFL Season (S35)

Season 35 marked another fantastic career point for Jay Cue Jr. Even if compared to the previous season managed to score 1 less Touchdown (20 vs 21, rushing and receiving included), his rushing yards increased a lot, going from 1652 to 1939 yards. And with this, he managed to get to rush the most amount of yards in a season, ever, beating Hall of Famer Marquise Brown (Inducted in 2037), who rushed for 1902 yards in Season 10. Adding to that, he had 47 receptions, for 401 yards and 4 touchdowns.

With these type of performance, Cue Jr. helped the Arizona Outlaws to a 13 - 3 regular season record, tied with the Honolulu Hahalua (but with worse conference record) and ahead of the 9 - 7 Orange County Otters.

This meant that the Outlaws would face their Season 33 playoff opponent, that at that time beat them in the conference final, 29 - 34. This time though, they had their revenge, as they stepped on the gas for 60 minutes to beat the Otters 34 - 17, with 2 rushing TDs from Cue Jr. and 2 receiving TDs by Kotoni Staggs, earning them another rematch with the Hahalua.

But, once again, the Arizona playoff curse continued, as they lost versus the #1 seed Hahalua, 20 - 26. The game was pretty close until half time, when the Outlaws were behind 10 - 13, but on the third quarter they fell 13 points behind, which proved to be a mammoth task to overcome for them. Cue managed to rush for 102 yards with 1 TD, but was not enough to lead the Outlaws to the Ultimus game.

During award season, his numbers did not go unnoticed. He snagged the Offensive Player of the Year and the Running Back of the Year Awards and got runner up at the Most Valuable Player one, behind his teammate Wendell Sailor.

2051 ISFL Season (S36)

Season 36 was another incredible season for Jay Cue Jr. Rushing wise, he lead the league again in rushing yards, with 1907, a number that got him to second in the all time season rushing yard list, just 32 yards shy of his previous season #1 record. But he managed to do even better in rushing touchdowns, getting 23 TDs, T-2 in the all time list and Season 36 league leader also. Adding to those rushing numbers, he also got 50 receptions for an average 383 yards, with only 1 touchdown. This season also saw Cue Jr. in returning duties, with mediocre success: 783 kick return yards and 234 punt return yards, with no touchdowns to show for it. Regarding the team, Arizona finished the regular season in 3rd place of the ASFC with a 9 - 7 record, behind the Honolulu Hahalua (11 - 5) and the surprising San Jose Sabercats (10 - 6), which meant that they would travel to California to face the Sabercats in the wildcard round of the playoffs. The playoffs started very well for the Outlaws, as they beat the #2 seed Sabercats, 28 - 13, courtesy of a great second half where they scored 21 unanswered points. Cue got the game ball, as he rushed for 98 yards and 3 touchdowns, helping Arizona in getting another rematch with the Honolulu Hahalua. Again, they were unable to beat the Hawaiian team, even though they had a 1 point lead early in the 4th quarter. But then they were unable to stop their opponents, who scored 18 points, making the game out of reach, 21 - 38. Heart break again for the Outlaws. Cue did have a great game again, rushing for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns, that unfortunately were not enough to help his team reach the championship game. Individually, courtesy of his incredible numbers, he managed to snag his second ISFL MVP award, along with the MOP award.

2052 ISFL Season (S37)

Season 37 meant another MVP caliber season for the portuguese star running back. After some setbacks on their season, with some unexpected losses, the Arizona Outlaws found themselves with a mediocre 3 - 5 record and, what seemed to be, completely out of the playoff picture. But this just pushed the teams buttons, making them go on an incredible 8 - 0 run, helping them to a 11 - 5 record, good for #1 in the ASFC, ahead of both the 9 - 7 teams, New Orleans Secondline and the reigning champions, the Honolulu Hahalua. Cue Jr. destroyed once again the opponent rush defenders, finishing the regular season with 1793 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns (both #1 in the league), while adding to those an extra 465 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns through the air. Courtesy of the #1 seed, the Outlaws got a bye for the playoffs wildcard round, which saw the Hahalua travel to New Orleans to beat the Secondline 27 - 10, booking another playoff rematch between the arguably most successful ASFC teams in recent times. This time though, Cue Jr. and the Outlaws would have the last laugh, beating the Hawaiian team 31 - 19, with Cue pulling incredible numbers, 3 rushing touchdowns in 83 yards, plus 51 receiving with no touchdowns, taking the Arizona team to its first Ultimus game since Season 30. Coincidentally, they would now face the same opponent as back then, the Sarasota Sailfish, that disposed of the Yellowknife Wraiths in the conference championship (41 - 24). In the championship game, after a lot of memes being thrown around by the fact that the Outlaws loved to lose playoff games... this time it was really their time. They destroyed the Sarasota Sailfish 31 - 11, giving Cue Jr. his first Ultimus win! With all this, it was no surprise that Cue Jr. managed to get his 3rd MVP Award, making him one of the most successful players ever to grace the league.
