James Angler (born December 20, 2014) is an American football tight end for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

James Angler was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Marry Angler and Tom Angler. The biggest influence on James was his father Tom. Tom was a huge Football fan and took James to every game of the Pittsburgh Panthers. Angler attended Greater Johnstown High School, in Johnstown. Angler always wanted to play Football but before he started playing seriously he played Golf, moslty in the Sunnehanna Country Club. One day Angler decided that he wanted to play Football more seriously. He joined the Trojan Athletics the team at his High School as a Tight End. At the end of his first season with the Trojan Athletics Angler broke his ankle after being tackled. But after a speedy recovery and hard training he was back on his foot in no time and played the second season from the start.

In his 3rd season in 2030 Angler set 3 records for the Trojan Athletics as a Tight End.

  • The most receiving touchdowns in a single season with 17 touchdowns.
  • The most receptions in a single season with 129 receptions.
  • The most receiving yards in a single season with 1,721 yards

College career

Angler enrolled to the University of Pittsburgh after completing his senior year of high school. Angler joined the Pittsburgh Panthers as a Tight End. The Pittsburgh Panthers are one of the most renowned college football teams. Angler was well received after playing this good in his high school years. He visited the training camp in his first year before playing his first season with the Pittsburgh Panthers in 2031. His Coach (Pat Narduzzi) said in a press conference, that Angler is one of the best Tight Ends that the University of Pittsburgh has ever seen. Angler went on and win the first ACC Coastal Division Championship for the University of Pittsburgh. The trophy along with a team picture is visible in Pitt's hallway.

Season Summary

James Angler joined the DSFL a little later as others in Season 21. He was put on the waivers list where he waited to get picked by a team so he could start his career. But James Angler isn't one who wants to wait for long so he started training right away. He also made a twitter account where he stirred up some other tight ends and called out their teams to pick him. The first one to get back to him was Heath Evans. Heath Evans was the Tight End for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, ironically that team also picked James Angler later that week. They both burried the hatched and pushed each other to become the best tight end. James Angler trained the rest of the week after getting picked from waivers to prepare for his first game at the Minnesota Grey Ducks. The Myrtle Beach Buccaneers lost that game 26-10. But something like that doesn't keep the team down, it was their first loss of the season so they all trained harder than ever. While Week 3-9 was a bit shaky for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers with 4 losses, they got it together for Week 10-14 and only lost 1 of those 4 games. With these wins the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers went on to secure the HFA for the playoffs with 9W and 5L.

The first Playoff game was against the Norfolk SeaWolves - The Myrtle Beach Buccaneers won that game 18-0. The defense was stronger than ever.

Then it went on to the Ultimini. It was Myrtle Beach Buccaneers against the Kansas City Coyotes. It was a close game but the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers won the Ultimini with 27-10.

ISFL Draft

James Angler trained hard and quickly rose to be one of the top 3 Tight Ends in the whole S22 class. He said in an interview, which he did at the end of Season 21, that he sees himself around round 6.

The Sarasota Sailfish, lead by Rayn Gordon and Dax Frost - the latter being Ex GM of the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, James' DSFL Team, picked James in Round 5 Pick 2 making him overall pick number 50.

James said on twitter he was flabbergasted and that he felt exuberant joy that he was picked that early and he is very excited to play for an expansion team in the ISFL

Season Summary

Dax Frost and James Angler negotiated a contract and came to an agreement without any issue. One term of the contract was to play one more DSFL season before getting to play in the ISFL - an offer James was happy to take as he planned on playing one more DSFL season anyway. So it was one more season for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers.

The Myrtle Beach Buccaneers were one of the strongest teams in the season, well at least on paper, but didn't even manage to reach the playoffs.

The Buccaneers finished last in their conference with 7W - 7L while having the best PF - PA difference with 85 points. Every single game that was lost was super close.

They still had a chance - even in the last week, but again a close loss against the Norfolk Seawolves with 27 - 24 put the Seawolves infront of them with 8-6 and gave them the opportunity to play in the playoffs

ISFL

2038 (S23)

Season Summary

Season 23 was the first Season James Angler played in the ISFL. Even though he is a Tight End he played as a Full Back for the Sarasota Sailfish. James managed to be the rookie with the most receiving yards - 914. While only making 3 Touchdowns he was still pretty satisfied with his performance. He also managed to make the ISFL Pro Bowl.

His Team - the Sarasota Sailfish (a bunch of people obsessed with :simon:) finished the season with 8W and 8L. While winning 6 out of 8 home games the Sarasota Sailfish had some trouble winning the games on the road. But still they only missed the Playoffs by a sliver as the whole NSFC conference was super close together, the Yelloknife Wraiths finished first (and also went on to win the ultimus) finished the regular season with a record of 10W and 6L.

The game that killed the playoffs dream for the Sarasota Sailfish where Week 5 where they lost 7 - 40 against the Baltimore Hawks. Because of that the Sailfishs had to win against the Hawks in the last regular season game with a difference of 29 points to make the cut - besides that, Philadelphia Liberty had to lose their last game.

All in all the Sarasota Sailfish had some super tough losses, eg. Week 4 against Philadelphia Liberty losing 24 - 23 or Week 8 against the Orange County Otters losing 24 - 20

by just winning those two close games the Sarasota Sailfish would've made the playoffs.

But still - for a new expansion team, they had a super strong season and they're showing everyone that they're in it to win it.

2039 (S24)

Season Summary

S24 was James' second season with the Sarasota Sailfish. Sarasota used the preseason to test some new tactics and it paid off. James Angler played at FB and received most of the passes Daxter Banks II threw. The Sailfish went with air raid most of the time and won their first 6 games. While losing to NOLA for the first time in week 7. The loss to NOLA was the only loss Sarasota had on the road. They went 7-1-0 on the road. 9-1-0 in the conf + division and at home they played 5-3-0. In total the Sarasota Sailfish lost 4 times this season, Week 7 against NOLA 22-13. Week 10 against Arizona 30-24. Week 11 at Honolulu 27-20. and Week 14 against Colorado Yeti 41-31.

Sarasota made it to the playoffs winning the wildcard game against Chicago 24-17. Sadly Sarasota lost against Colorado Yetis once again 24-20.

Colorado Yetis went on to lose against the San Jose SaberCats 17-12 in the ultimus.

In the middle of S24 word got out that there are two new teams forming and joining in the league. The New York Silverbacks and the Berlin Fire Salamanders. This meant that the teams had to go through an expansion draft. James Angler was on the protection list for Sarasota but his Tight End mate Clark Boyd got picked up by Berlin Fire Salamanders.

Even though James Angler had the 2nd most receptions, 2nd most yards received and the 3rd most touchdowns out of all receivers he was not nominated for any award and made some noise about that.
