He learned how important speed could be and that the team is always more important than just one person. In high school, Utler broke my school’s record for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in a season. That was just his freshman year. He ended up breaking his own record two more times in high school and led his team to the state championship game. Unfortunately, a first quarter injury stopped Utler from making a true impact in the championship game and his team ended up losing. After high school, Jake Utler was recruited by the University of Michigan as a top five star prospect. Aside from Michigan, Utler got offers from many other schools including the top ranked University of Alabama but he ended up choosing Michigan since Utler was not interested in incest.

College career

Jake Utler ended up getting recruited by the University of Michigan and played there for two years before declaring for the NSFL. He was a starter at the RB position by his second year at Michigan. In his first year, he was the backup RB and kick returner where Utler learned a lot about the game and his team. He was on a whole new level of competition and he had to prepare himself. Once Utler was able to get consistent touches he was able to show the world what he was truly made of. During his full season, Utler led the country in rushing attempts (420) and yards (2436) while leading Michigan to a spot in the playoffs. In this defensive driven game they lost by a field goal to Clemson. Instead of stay in college for another chance at the College Football Playoffs, Utler decided to enter the NSFL system to take his talents professionally.
