Declan Harp (born January 2, 2000) is an American football tight end for the Baltimore Hawks of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for Twickenham Rugby College (TRC) before being drafted by the Baltimore Hawks in the 2024 ISFL Draft (S9). Prior to this, he had been drafted by the Kansas City Coyotes in the 2023 DSFL Draft (S8).

Early years

Declan Harp is an American Football player that was born in London, Twickenham, United Kingdom to Adam Harp and Joanna Harp. Declan had a normal childhood that involved playing soccer, going to school and doing boy things. Adam, Declan's father, being a huge rugby fan took his son to his first rugby training at age of 6. Rugby became Declan's calling and under coach Chris Bowman he was showing promissing results. Already at age of 11, Declan, played for England's U-12 team. Due to his passion towards the rugby Declan was failing school which was not acceptable by his mother Joanna and his father has no other option to agree and stop Declans training until getting his grades back to acceptable grade. Declan returned to rugby after 4 months when he just turned 12. Declan kept representing England in U14 and U16 and U18 tournaments. He went to study in Twickenham Rugby College, one of the country's most prestigeous rugby schools as one of the most promising rugby futures of England's rugby, but short before going into big leagues and graduating college he decided to move from rugby to american fotball and moved to states. He did graduate college before moving.

College career

While studying business as the side subject to playing rugby at Twickenham Rugby College, Declan, was one of the most promising players out there, not just in England, but world. As a first year student he already made the college team and was representing them in the nation-wide and local tournaments. First year Declan's team did not win no trophies as they were eleminated into the playoff stage of Fran Cotton Throphy leage. He did got 2nd place that year with his U20 team in wolrd cup, losing only in finals to Wales. On the second year he was offered captains position but he refused it stating that there are players that knows the team better and captains task is to be the glue and leader of the team, not just someone who plays good. That year Declan did win the Fran Cotton Throphy with his Twickenham Rugby College team and became champions. They kept the champions status next year as well and Declan became leagues MVP. After the third year Declan started to lose interest in Rugby and slowly started transition towards American Football.

DSFL career

After arriving to states and announcing himslef to the next DSFL's draft as Tight End, he was quickly picked up by San Antonio Marshalls for the DSFL's S7 playoffs. During the few playoff games and gaining the first real American Football experience Declan did not perform bad, but was not great either. He put up avarage numbers and you could see the influence of the rugby style playing that still was influencing his movement and understanding of the game. At the DSFL Season 8 draft Declan was drafted on the 2nd round, overall #6 pick to Kansas City Coyotes. Played the whole season 8 as a Coyote receiving 64 balls for 558 yards, making 12 pankcakes and allowing only 1 sack.

NSFL career

On the NSFL Season 9 draft Harp was picked up in the 1st round, overall #5, by Baltimore Hawks, who are pass heavy team and was not really in need for a Tight End, but for some reason they still decided to go with drafting him. Declan requested to be send down to play at least one more season on Kansas City Coyotes which Baltimore Hawks GM approved. Declan has not yet had his NSFL debut.

Controversy

During the NSFL season 8 Declan Harp came out with an announcement about a video that he shared several years back with some racist/nationalist activist involvement that apparently was picked up by one of the teams while doing early scouting before the NSFL S9 draft and bothered them enough to start the meeting with questions about it. The scouting team happened to be San Jose SaberCats and after explaining what was the background of the story he made a statement that Declan Harp does not want to be drafted and play for San Jose SaberCats due to the questions asked. This statement shocked the NSFL world and a lot of people tried to get to the bottom of the story and situation, but for most of the teams it did not seem to affect their thoughts on the player.
