Cliff "Lightning" Burton (born February 10, 2023) was an American football wide receiver. He played college football for University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

Early years

"Cliff Burton was born on February 2nd, 2002 in Castro Valley, California to Jay and Rhea Burton. Burton was born into a very large family with six older brothers: James, Kirk, Lars, Robert, Dave, and Jason. Burton credits his competitiveness and toughness on the field to growing up as the youngest of seven.

From an early age Burton showed an interest in two things: music and football. He started formal training in both at the age of 8, quickly developing a talent for the bass and receiving. Throughout his elementary school years, Burton quickly developed into one of the best youth prospects in California. At 13, he made the varsity squad for Castro Valley High School and continue to develop as a threat at wide receiver. By his junior year, Burton had claimed every Castro Valley High School receiving record and began to prepare for his college career and more fierce competition."

College career

"After graduating Castro Valley High School, Burton was heavily scouted by NCAA teams. After weighing his options, Burton committed to the University of California Los Angeles and made the starter squad his freshman year.

As a freshman Burton had a quiet year. In 12 games played for the Bruins, Burton made only 26 receptions for 334 yards, an average of 12.8 yards pers receptions. Burton had trouble finding his game as a freshman and had zero touchdowns on the season.

After his rough freshman year, Burton hit the weight room hard and came into his sophomore season ready to prove himself to himself, his team, and the rest of the studetn body at UCLA. In eleven games, Burton made 50 receptions for 582 yards with 5 touchdowns.

Burton continued to improve in his junior year with 86 receptions, 1,054 yards, and 7 touchdowns. When speaking of his college development, Burton has said that his junior season at UCLA is when he finally put together his playstyle and it all clicked.

Burton's final year was his finest as a Bruin. Although he took a step back in receptions, only making 77 on the season, he added more than 400 yards to his season best and registered ten touchdowns. His 1,494 yards was enough to set the UCLA record for most receiving yards in season. Burton also claimed UCLA's career receiving yards record with 3,464 yard over his tenure for the Bruins."
