Clark Russell Boyd (born September 19, 2013) is an American football tight end for the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Boyd was born and raised in Rahway, New Jersey to Russell and Jane Boyd. Russell Boyd had played professional football in his native Canada; he was a linebacker for the now defunct Halifax Hammerheads from 2009 to 2016. Naturally, Clark took to football at a young age, but he also developed a passion for wrestling. Boyd attended Rahway High School where he lettered in both football and wrestling. Boyd gained traction as he lined up initially as a quarterback, but after his freshman year, grew into the position of tight end, where he met much more success. His senior year, Boyd made the All-Group, All-Conference, and All-State teams, which helped with his recruitment efforts. Though he did not receive many offers, he was happy to commit to his lifelong favorite college team: Rutgers University.

College career

Boyd was barely a true freshman, but left impact on the field. He played only in 2 games, but totaled 10 catches for 92 yards. Over the offseason Boyd was made starter and in his sophomore year made significant improvements, including scoring 4 touchdowns. His junior year would prove to be his best as he became the Big 10's top scoring tight end with 10 touchdowns off of career-high catches and yardage. In his senior year Boyd fell in the TE ranks following Rutgers's recruitment of a new receiving core. His totals were held to 26 catches, 223 yards, and 5 touchdowns. Due to his lackluster sdeior year, Boyd made no announcements regarding playing professionally. Boyd graduated in 2036 with a B.A. in Management Science with a minor in Politcal Science, and seemed poised to enter into the corporate world. However, midway through the its 21st season Boyd decided to enter into the NSFL.

Professional career

DSFL career

Boyd jumped straight from college ball to DSFL waivers, and was signed to the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ahead of the 22nd NSFL season. With a mediocre performance in the 2037 Combine, Boyd was unsure of his standings with pro scouts. He entered into the NSFL Draft and the Sarasota Sailfish took him in the 11th round at pick #122. However, he would not be called up to play, and saw the his debut season with the Buccaneers.

2037 season

Boyd's fist season of play was one of pure development. In Week 1 vs. Portland, he made 2 catches for 3 yards each, as well as 1 rush for no gain. Week 2 saw no action, with 1 dropped pass and 1 penalty. Week 3 would mark a breakout for Boyd, with 1 reception for 13 yards. With each week, his performance improved. In Week 4, he ran for 27 yards on 3 catches. In Week 5, 29 yards on 4 catches. Boyd led the Buccaneers in receptions in Week 8 against the Norfolk Seawolves, with 5 catches, though he only managed 33 yards. The following week, he led for both (5 receptions and 46 yards). His best games would come at the end of the season, when the playoff were all but an impossible dream. In Week 12, Boyd scored his first touchdown and made 6 catches for 32 yards. In the Buccaneers' final game for the season, Boyd made 4 catches for 38 yards and another touchdown.
