After the Argonauts finished 2017 with there worst season in franchise history (1-15) they decided to hold an open tryout for the 2018 season, this was mostly a PR stunt as the people of Toronto were growing restless at the teams performance. Cal seeing this as his only shot at being a pro went to the first week of tryouts, at the tryouts a WR coach would recommend that with Cals speed, hands and ability to avade defenders he would have a much better chance at making the team at WR, Cal decided to listen to the coach and began running WR drills. At the end of public tryouts the Argos invited 5 players to training camp, Cal would be signed to the practice squad as the lone player from tryouts. Entering preseason and with the depth at WR on the Argos Cal did not get a shot until week 3, in the second quarter with 3 mins left Cal would receive a kickoff and return it 92 yards for a touchdown, he would not see anymore action until week 1 of the regular season where again he would return a punt return 62 yards for a touchdown. In week 3 number 1 reciver Jerome Bell would be injured with an ACL tear and be out for the season, Cal would be slotted into the #3 potion on the depth chart, upon entering the game he would make an immediate impact with a 25 yard catch on 3rd down to keep the drive alive. in that week 3 game against the eskimos he would end the game with 5 catches for 73 yards and a punt return touchdown, going into week 4 coach Mcarthur would move Cal to second on the depth chart while remaining as main kick/punt returner, from week 4 to week 8 call would make 20 catches for 170 yards and 5 touchdowns, establishing himself as a redzone threat. After week 8 coach Mcarthur would put Cal at the number one positon, Cal would finish the season with a cfl rookie record 60 catches and 15 touchdowns. Cal would win the offensive rookie of the year award and make the all star team, only the 3rd rookie in cfl history to do so. At the begining of the 2019 season Cal was slotted into the #1 depth chart positon immediately having shown himself to be one of the elite receivers in the league, Cal would go on to have an mvp season finishing with the most catches, touchdowns, yards, and YAC out of all receivers in the league (105,45,765,367 respectively) and help the Argos win the 2019 Grey Cup. after the 2019 season he would enter the ISFL draft where he went undrafted, the day after the draft the Portland Pythons would sign him as an undrafted free agent.
