Borkus Maximus III (born January 14, 92 BC) is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Second Line of the National Simulation Football League (NSFL). He played college football for The Platonic Academy (The Platonic Academy) before being drafted by the New Orleans Second Line in the 2021 ISFL Draft (S6). Prior to this, he had been drafted by the Kansas City Coyotes in the 2020 DSFL Draft (S5).

Early years

Borkus Maximus III was born in the ancient Roman Republic in 92 B.C.E. Borkus typically declines to talk about his past in detail, choosing instead to focus on the new day and age he has found himself in. It is theorized that he was a natural athlete, and was likely a soldier in the Roman army, given his natural athletic abilities, large stature, and education. He was reportedly in great physical condition the moment he fell out of the time-stream tear that transported him forward in time.

College career

Borkus does claim to have received education at the presitous Platonic Academy. However, the Plantoc Academy of Athens was destroyed in 86 BC, when Borkus was only 8 years old. When confronted, Borkus claimed he received education at a smaller, unoficial satellite teaching academy headed by displaced philosophers from the original Platonic Academy. As of the time of this writing, these claims are unsubstantiated and there is disagreement between historians as to the validity of Borkus' claims. While receiving his education, Borkus trained daily as an Olympic athlete in the ancient Olympic games. Shortly after emerging from the time-stream tear at a research facility in Berkeley, California, Borkus announced his disappointment at the modern Olympic games, as modern society had forgotten what was once of upmost importance to the society from which he came. He decided to take his natural talents to a more popular sport: Football.

DSFL career

Borkus received lots of hype from the media upon announcing his interest in football, and the Kansas City Coyotes (then the Chicago Coyotes) took notice, drafting him first overall in the S5 DSFL draft. His rookie season with the Coyotes was quite disappointing. He finished the season with a 54.6% completion percentage (3rd worst in the league), a 13:16 TD ratio, and a 64.5 QBR (3rd worst in the league). However, he was 3rd in the league in passing Tds (13), but also tied for the lead in interceptions (16). The Coyotes offense was the worst in the league in S5, and Borkus led them to a disappointing 4-10 record. Analysts and pundits around the league debated as to whether Borkus was a bust or if the disappointing Coyotes season was more attributable to poor coaching and management. Indeed, shortly after the S5 season, the Chicago Coyotes were moved back to their original home of Kansas City.

Following a disappointing DSFL season, Borkus found his draft stock in the upcoming NSFL draft plummiting. He was picked by the New Orleans Second Line in Round 2, 15th pick overall. Borkus was the third QB selected in the S6 draft, behind Austin Roenick and Arbin Asipi Jr., neither of which played at the QB position in the NSFL. NOLA declined to send Borkus back down to the DSFL, rather keeping him up as a true rookie QB. This was the first time in several seasons that an NSFL team started a true rookie QB.
