Billy "The Gun" Van Goff (born September 1, 2038) is an American football quarterback who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Penn State (PENN) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Son of Mary Lee and Vernon Van Goff; Billy "The Gun" Van Goff was born William Stephen Van Goff in Altoona, Pennsylvania. From a very young age, he was fascinated by both the sport of American Football and Guns. His favorite team growing up was the Philadelphia Liberty and his favorite gun was the Colt M1911; in high school, he tried out for his high school's football team the Altoona Mountain Lions, and won the starting job his freshman year of high school. Throwing for over 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns each of his four years as starting QB; his strong arm and accurate throwing; as well as his admiration for guns; fans and players gave him the nickname ""The Gun"". After never missing a game due to injury in high school Billy Van Goff was highly scouted; and after a very long decision process, he decided to stay in his home state for college, choosing Penn State over many other prestigious options, due to his commitment to his family and his home state.

College career

Billy Van Goff was a trailblazer and eventually a rule changer during his college career at Penn State. After being redshirted his freshman season; Van Goff started the first game of his college career being sacked 3 straight times in his opening drive. He was so shaken up and frustrated that he did something that would change the game of American college football forever. After going back to the sideline following the opening drive punt his coach Lew Massey yelled out "Well what are you going to do about it!" and Van Goff uttered something completely unexpected... "I'm gonna get my gun!". And for the entirety of his college career; Billy had not just a great arm, but a gun as well. The NCAA changed the rules after the game preventing any player from using a gun during the game but the rule had a grandfather clause in it allowing "The Gun" to continue to play with a gun. He passed for over 3500 yards and 35 Touchdowns his two seasons starting for Penn State before he was "forced" to leave college and join the newest DSFL draft class. Now we'll see if the DSFL and ISFL force a rule change themselves!

DSFL Career

Season 45

Billy Van Goff was selected 7th overall in the first round of the Season 45 DSFL developmental draft by the Portland Pythons. He was the only QB selected in the first 5 rounds until Mr. Irrelevant Danny Dimes was selected with the final pick. Going into his rookie season, it was unknown how well he would perform, but after it all, he helped get his supposedly rebuilding team into the playoffs with a 6-8 record. Van Goff came out firing in Week 1 throwing 50 passes in a Week 1 loss against the Minnesota Grey Ducks, there would be some growing pains until Van Goff shined in a Week 6 31-26 victory over the London Royals, in that game Billy Van Goff threw for 273 yards and 3 TD's with a phenomenal 136.1 passer rating during which he through a 62-yard pass which was his longest of the season. Ending the season passing for nearly 3000 yards and over 22 touchdowns; he was highly scouted going into the ISFL draft.

Season 46

Billy Van Goff was one of the many QBs teams that were looking at going into the Season 46 ISFL Draft, and the team that took a chance on him was the Yellowknife Wraiths, with the 9th pick of the 2nd round; 23rd overall. Officially looking at him as a possible future franchise QB if they couldn't get their contract settled with their current QB.

After returning to the Pythons for another season; Van Goff and the Portland Pythons limped into the playoffs the previous season; and while they looked forward to another playoff appearance; that was never in the cards as the season went on. While Van Goff had an average season throwing for nearly 3500 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, the team itself struggled to a 3-11 record.

The Wraiths and Van Goff agreed that he needed another season to improve and opted to keep him in the DSFL for another season.

Season 47

This was a bounceback year for both the Pythons and Billy Van Goff, in a season where Van Goff threw for over 3600 yards, 25 touchdowns, and only 6 interceptions. The Portland Pythons finished the regular season 9-5, made it to the DSFL playoffs, and started an immaculate run towards a championship. In the North Division championship game, the Portland Pythons were down 27 points midway into the 3rd quarter, until an interception return for a touchdown turned the tides and the Pythons scored 28 straight to advance to the championship game. Facing off against the Tijuana Luchadores, Van Goff threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 1:13 remaining; crowning the Pythons the champions of the DSFL.

After an injury to his throwing arm in the Ultimini; discussion began with the Wraiths on whether Van Goff's future is being their QB of the future. A possibility of a position switch is being mulled over this off-season; as is the possibility of his promotion to the ISFL.
