Joshua Calvin Palmer (born January 2, 1998) is an American football tight end who is currently unsigned by a professional team.

Early years

Joshua Palmer was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Rebecca and Hank Palmer. From an early age, Joshua's talent for sports was apparent to all of those around him. He took his little league baseball team to a regional championship and his flag football team to a championship in the same year. When high school came around, Joshua decided to stick to football and was the backup quarterback and the starting tight end. His North Atlanta Thrashers coaches described him as "respectable" and a "young man of few words, but a lot of talent." After his freshman year however, Palmer moved to strictly playing tight end since his quarterback skills were not as desired as his receiving abilities. His senior year with the Thrashers he set a school record for receptions and receiving touchdowns.

College career

Recruited by the man himself, Jim Harbaugh, Joshua Palmer was able to immediately impress Michigan from the first time he set foot on campus. Palmer's massive size gave him many opportunities to be seen as well as the impressive high school numbers he had setup. He was redshirted his first year, but due to an injury had to shed the redshirt to take the starting job. From his first catch, Palmer set himself up very nicely. Stephen A. Smith was quoted saying this about Palmer's first game, "That white boy could play basketball with ball skills like that!" The rest of his freshman year was just as exciting as the beginning. Palmer recorded one of the many touchdowns in the 2016 Orange Bowl classic against FSU, and was devistated at the sour ending to his freshman season. The next two seasons for Palmer were proof of his reliability even in hard losses against rivals. He advanced slightly as a blocking help during his sophomore season after gaining a few pounds, but was persuaded against the idea by coaches to stay more as a weapon in the passing game. Joshua left Michigan early to join the NSFL, coming into the season a bit late so his chances are left to the DSFL where he hopes to bring his talents to the pro level.
