Amari Springer (born February 6, 2026) is an American football wide receiver who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks. He played college football for Bemidji State University (BSU) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Amari Springer was born to Michael Henry and Fiona Mary Springer in the neighborhood of Kenwood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His family was middle class and both of his parents were well-educated, both having graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota. Springer attended Carondelet Catholic School in downtown Minneapolis. The school was a private instituion and did not offer any sports. Therefore, Springer had to play in semi-recreational leagues as a youth. Springer played baseball, football, basketball, and swimming in rec leagues while he was in elementary and middle school. He gravitated early-on towards baseball as it required less endurance than other sports. Springer was diagnosed with asthma at a young age which hindered his ability to play endurance-focused sports for long periods of time. But Springer was praised by all of his coaches for his willingness to play through his lapsing breath. Eventually, Springer's mother, Fiona, moved him away from football, basketball, and swimming to focus solely on baseball.

Springer played baseball all four years at Mankato West High School. Come his senior year, he opted to play football for his first time in over three years. Springer claimed he hadn't had an asthma attack since Middle School. Just to be safe, head coach, and former governer of Minnesota, Tim Walz opted to have Springer run short-yardage routes. Springer excelled at receiver, however, and led his conference in receptions and placed 3rd in touchdowns. Mankato West would be champions of their conference but lose in the state semifinals to North High School.

College career

Springer was offered a partial-academic scholarship to the University of Minnesota. He walked-on for football his freshman year. After finding out about his history of respitory problems, the Golden Gophers asked him to walk-off. Springer opted to transfer from Minnesota to a school who desired to have him on their football team. One of those teams was Bemidji State University, who offered him a full athletic scholarship and a starting role on the team. Springer accepted but, due to NCAA transfer rules, had to sit out his sophomore season. Springer finally saw the field in his junior season. The coaches at Bemidji State allowed him to run deeper routes while also giving him short yard plays. Springer excelled at receiver and led the NSIC in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns among receivers. Springer was given plenty of offers, throughout the season, to transfer to D-I football programs. However, Springer opted to remain at Bemidji State. But he would only play one full season as he opted to enter the DSFL Draft before his senior year.
