Akil Ozymandias (born March 23, 2017) was an American football tight end. He played college football for Stanford University.

Early years

Akil Ozymandias was born in Newark, New Jersey, to Horatio and Zahra Ozymandias.He has a younger brother, Dante. His parents are both immigrants from Egypt, left their homeland for educational opportunities for their two sons. Father Horatio Ozymandias is a physicist at Rutgers University. Mother Zahra Ozymandias is a triage nurse at Saint Michael's Medical Center. Akil attended East Side High School in Newark, New Jersey where he played wide receiver and offensive tackle for the East Side Red Raiders. Coaches praised him for his knowledge of the game as his family heavily pushed his studies. Through his four year high school career, he had 76 receptions for 1, 214 yards and 12 touchdowns. He committed to play college football for Stanford University his Senior year. During Akil's time at Stanford, he studied mathematics and maintained honor roll status. He elected to stay his senior year of college to complete his bachelor program and earn a mathematics degree. His brother Dante plays basketball for Syracuse University.

College career

"Ozymandias accepted a football scholarship from Stanford University. He rarely saw any action as a true freshman and was mostly used on the practice squad.

In his sophmore year he challenged for the backup position at TE and earned the spot. He played in all 14 games as a backup, catching 10 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown.

As a Junior, he was named the starter. He played in all 13 games, having 32 receptions for 268 yards (third on the team) and two touchdowns He helped block for running backs, which helped earn him some honorable-mention in All-Pac-12 honors.

Akil finished his Senior year at Stanford with a career-high 298 yards and three touchdowns. He became the first Stanford tight end to have back to back career 200-yard seasons. At the conclusion of the regular season, Akil was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year. He is the first Stanford player to win the award since Bryce Love in 2017. Akil ended his Senior season by graduating with a Bachelors of Mathematics degree and declaring for the ISFL draft."
