Early years
Confurius was born in the state of Washington to a pair of retired professional ultimate frisbee players. Though he began in soccer and frisbee, his frame filled out substantially in high school, leading him to join the football team, and eventually becoming the anchor of the varsity line. He built a strong relationship with his QB, pairing with him during the off-season to develop a program of mutual aid to support less fortunate members of the football program. By the end of their high school tenure, the program had expanded to other sports teams and even other school programs like drama and the arts. Confurius and his QB did not have excellent grades or test scores, so they attribute their admission to the competitive Alki College of the Arts to the success of their aid program. Of course, their domination of their division and repeated trips to the State Championships didn't hurt them in getting that sports scholarship, either.
College career
If Confurius' high school career was defined by explosive physical growth and the intimate connections that he built throughout his community, then his college career revolved around finesse and confidence. He struggled his first year against collegiate defenses, learning that the grit, determination, and sheer size that had carried him successfully through high school were no longer enough to keep him at the top of the depth chart. By the end of his freshman year, he was focusing more on technique than deadlifts. By the end of sophomore year, the familiar confidence that he enjoyed in high school began to return, as he continued to learn how to use his size, and that of his opposing lineman, to his advantage. His junior and senior years flew by in a whirlwind of wins, awards, and the heartbreaking, career-ending injury of the QB he'd played with since he first began. He took that injury very personally, feeling responsible for not having been able to protect his friend on the field. He knew it wasn't something he should feel responsible for, those things happen, but it gave him a renewed sense of determination to be successful in ISFL.
