Early years
Tobias was born in Greenwich, Connecticut to a prominent family of the area. His family had been in the state since the mid 1700s and was part of the first settlement of free blacks in the colonies. Tobias learned from an early age that this sterling family reputation was something that he was expected to live up to and maintain all the days of his life. Honesty, as an integral part of personal integrity, was particularly cherished by the Worthington family. Every child knew that it was expected that every parental rule was expected to be followed to the letter, but though you might be punished for straying outside the lines, lying about your misbehavior brought a far worse punishment. Tobias did well all through his early primary education and into middle school. This prepared him to excel in both academics and on the football field at Choate Rosemary Hall, a prestigious boarding school in Wallingford, Connecticut. Tobias went on to Yale University from Choate.
College career
Tobias Worthington III, or TB3 as he began to be called while attending Yale University, enrolled to study drama at this fine Ivy League insttitution. A career in football was not top of mind or he might have attended a university with a stronger tradition of excellence on the field. He excelled in his chosen field and was playing leads in multiple productions by the time his senior year rolled around. But TB3 also excelled on the gridiron. He began his career at WR, but having played both ways at Choate, he quickly decided to concentrate on the defensive side of the ball - and he loved going afer opposing QBs from his position on the far side of the defensive line. TB3 shattered the Yale records for most sacks in a game, most sacks in a season, and most sacks in a Yale career. He also set records for tackles, but he particularly cherishes those sack totals.
