Early years
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Katherine and Douglas Methane. Started playing football at an early age, and played at West Allegheny Senior High, playing all four years as a starter on Varsity. After he committed to Texas Tech, his family moved to Texas with him, settling in the Lubbock area. Danny frequented a local burger joint so often that the owner gave him a free employee shirt and an item on the menu named after him. The Methane Burger as it is called, consists of two patties, two slices of american cheese, a "fistful" of fries, two onion rings, and barbecue sauce, served on two thick slices of grilled Texas toast. Danny Methane is also a hobby luthier, building and refinishing guitars in his free time.
College career
Broke the Texas Tech school record for sacks in a game at six, in a season, at 20, and in a career, at 46. Won the Bednarik Award twice joining Pat Fitzgerald and Paul Poslusny as the only other two time award winners.
Graduated with a 4.0 GPA and a degree in Electrical Engineering.
