Early years
Thelonius Junk was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to unsuccesful brewery owners who were run out of the business by all the competition. To get away he did whatever he could to be alone, but he loved football. He found that the easiest way to play football alone was to be a kicker, so kick he did. He would kick all day, Thel loved to play a game he called kick the football at the wall. To play the game, you would grab a football and kick it at the wall and try to get it in a circle drawn on it. He would play this game for hours a day just to get out of the house. Going into High Scool, football was a big priority for him, trying out, he made the JV team because they literally could not turn people away. He played all 4 years on the High School JV team, and has the most points in the school's 10 year history. Coming from this home that was in disarray, he decided he had enough of Milwaukee and decided to go to a big college out of state.
College career
Coming from a town that is known for drinking, Thel wanted to go to a college where he could party hard and show off his skills- University of Nebraska-Lincoln. At Nebraska, Thel would truly come into his own as kicker. His accuracy was unprecedented for a college player but his power left much to be desired. Thel was perfect within 25 yards over his time in college and he liked to bring up that fact often. Once you got above 30 yards his numbers started to fall off, but that's not something you would hear from Thel. In his final season, Thel had 0 field goals made on 0 attempts. His offense only scored touchdowns or they didn't score at all. He made 87 extra point attempts that season, ending his college career.
