Gritt Gurdur was born in Layafette, Indiana to his parents and grw up with his two siblings. Gurdur lived on the outskirts of town on a farm where he spent most of his days assisting his father with farming duties and watching over his younger brother and sister. During his highschool career, Gurdur spent his first three years playing on the local basketball team, where he became a three-star basketball recruit in his junior year. However after a multitude of personal foul penalites and ejections for his aggressive rough play, Gurdur was suspended from the basketball team in his senior year. Gurdur chose to spend his final year on the football team, where he played both sides as a Fullback and Linebacker, earning first team All Conference in his Division and setting a school record for Tackles for a Loss in a season. Gritt Gurdur (born March 17, 1999) was an American football linebacker. He played college football for Purdue (PDE).
Early years
Gritt Gurdur was born in Layafette, Indiana to his parents and grw up with his two siblings. Gurdur lived on the outskirts of town on a farm where he spent most of his days assisting his father with farming duties and watching over his younger brother and sister. During his highschool career, Gurdur spent his first three years playing on the local basketball team, where he became a three-star basketball recruit in his junior year. However after a multitude of personal foul penalites and ejections for his aggressive rough play, Gurdur was suspended from the basketball team in his senior year. Gurdur chose to spend his final year on the football team, where he played both sides as a Fullback and Linebacker, earning first team All Conference in his Division and setting a school record for Tackles for a Loss in a season. College career
Due to only playing one year of high school football, Gurdur only recieved a few partial scholarships to Division 3 schools, but ultimately he decided to walk on to Purdue University to try out for the Boilermakers. Impressed by his physical attributes, Gurdur was red shirted his first year to develop his knowledge of the game. On the start of his red shirt Freshman year, Gurdur played sparingly as a relief linebacker and played often in the goal line package, garnering 15 tackles with 3 TFL's and one Forced Fumble throughout the season. A notable game from his freshman year was against Wisconsin, Where on a 4th and goal on the 1, Gurdur leaped over the line of scrimmage to collide with the Wisc. RB, causing a turnover on downs. Gurdurs Freshman Performance earned himself the starting Middle Linebacker job his Sophmore year, while also serving as a Blocking Fullback, similar to his highschool days. Over the next two years of his College Career, Gurdur led the Boilermakers to two seperate top 10 run defense seasons, with his junior year reaching #3 in the ranking. Gurdur tallied over 154 tackles with 38 TFL's, 15 FF's, 9 sacks, and 11 pass deflections in his two years as a starter on defense, while also rushing 22 times for 103 yards and 2 TD's.
