Early years
Guy Fields was born as Günther Feldt in Vienna, IL to Gregor and Marianne Feldt who moved there shortly before from their home of Austria. The only reason they settled in Vienna is that it is the same name as their Austrian hometown and they would not have to remember a completely new address. They shortly after changed their last name to the anglicized Fields and Guy began using his nickname as his first name because no one could pronounce it.
When he started High School Guy joined the soccer team on. After trying out for different teams he joined the Football team and played as a Linebacker and Safety in an outstanding defensive team. He played most of his Junior season in the Safety position and did some work on Special Teams before nearly completely switching over to Linebacker in his senior year. Next to school he worked in his parents' Schnitzel Restaurant that became a hub for his team after training and games.
College career
After being regarded as a 4 star recruit he was offered scholarships by Northwestern University and Washington State. He decided to stay in his home state of Illinois and quickly started to work his way up the depth chart as a true freshman and played in all games of the season. Specializing as a coverage Linebacker he became a valueable part of his team when they encountered heavy passing but was not especially useful at rushing the passer or stopping the run game.
He worked heavily on these traits in his next season and while he would always excel at coverage, he was able to formidably get better in the other parts of the game. After a small injury in his junior season where he had to sit out the last 4 games he returned with a blast for his senior and last season of college where he recorded 6 interceptions including two pick sixes.
Guy decided to declare for the draft and forgo his final season of college eligibility after being advised so by multiple people.
