Early years
Blaster Blade Jr. was born and raised in Springhill, Lousiana. He was a star running back at Northwebster High School, posting a total of 5,031 yards and 81 touchdowns. Blade also played linebacker and ended up with 192 tackles. His father, Blaster Blade, played defensive end in the NSFL for a couple seasons before retiring.
College career
After high school, Blade committed to LSU as one of the top running back recruits in the nation. However, after speaking to a couple coaches, the coaches convinced Blaster to switch to the defensive side of the ball, where his father played. Blade is much faster than when his father was in the league so the coaches decided that Blade could play the inside linebacker position. The position change was ultimately a success, with Blade winning multiple collegiate awards and ultimately deciding to leave following his junior season at LSU, and entering the DSFL.
