Early years
Booter McGavin is the grandson of legendary golfer Shooter McGavin, and son to Looter and Sarah McGavin. Booter's birth name is Preston, but he chose to change his name after switching to football from golf during his college years. Like his grandfather, Booter orginally took a liking to the game of golf at a young age. He was a top ranked national junior player during his highschool years in Fairfield Connecticut. Booter won many national tournaments including a famous win at the Waterbury open in 2046. Booter was known especially for his short game and the ability to make difficult putts. Despite being chased by all of the top colleges in America, Booter chose to stay local to New England and attend Williams College to pursue his golf career and further his education. Booter mainly chose Williams due to his fond memories of summering with his grandfather up in the Berkshires of western massachusetts
College career
Booter's first two years in college he was exclusivly a member of the golf team at Williams. Booter won NCCA Freshman of the year and was the overall 3rd ranked golfer at the end of his first season. His Sophomore year was similary dominant until the NCAA regional tournament. In thisi tournament Booter was found to have cheated by kicking his ball to a more favorable spot. Booter was removed from the golf team and his place at Williams was in question. Lucky for Booter, the Williams football coach saw the kicking motion used by Booter and knew he could become a top tier punter in college football. Booter jumped at the chance to switch sports and became a member of the Ephs football team. Booter had two successful seasons as a punter and kicker including winning the NCAA kicker of the year in his final season. Booter's biggest college moment came in the annual rivarly game against Ahmhest College. On the final play of the game, Booter successfully threw a touchdown pass to teammate Snappy Gilmore on a swinging gate trick play.
