Early years
Franklin Armstrong was born in Miami, Manitoba. He grew up in Miami, born to parents Ruben and Jackie Armstrong. He was the oldest of seven siblings. His father was veteran of the Iraq wars and passed away when Armstrong was eight years old. His mother, Jackie, was a school teacher, and Warren learned to cook, sew, iron and housekeep to help take care of the family. He attended Kelvin High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the purpose of athletics where he lettered in both football and baseball. Armstrong saw himself as a two sport athlete from an early age, but there was always that nagging feeling he would end up having to choose one over the other. He decided after his junior year that he could play only one sport for the rest of his high school career because he had to work the rest of the year to help the family. He chose to play football as a quarterback since he found that he could throw a football longer, harder, and straighter than anyone he knew. In his junior year of highschool, he fully committed to football and the position of QB. He had little playing time until his junior year, when he took over as varsity starting quarterback. In his senior season in 2025, they reached the city playoffs, and Armstrong was named to the all-city team.

College career
Franklin Armstrong made the shocking choice to join the newly formed Winnipeg Wesmen football program instead of the much larger, and fully established football program with the University of Manitoba Bisons. His decision shocked many, as the youngster had cited that the smaller and fledging program at the University of Winnipeg was where he intended to make a name for himself in the CIS. And make a name for himself he did. As a true freshmen he led a the Wesmen to an undefeated 8-0 regular season. The Wesmen upset their fast rivals the University of Manitoba Bisons, en route to an eventual 28-24 Vanier Cup win against the favoured Western Ontario Mustangs in 2026. Down 24-14 at the start of the 4th, Armstrong led two consecutive touchdown drives to take the lead as the Wesmen held on for the win. He was rewarded the Ted Morris Memorial trophy as the game's outstanding player. Adding to his accolades, he was named 1st-team Quarterback for the 2026 CIS All-Candadian team at the end of the season. He also earned the prestigious Hec Crighton Trophy honouring the top football player across the country. An injury riddled 2027 CIS season for Armstrong saw the Wesmen plummet from a 5-0 start to 5-3 and a Hardy Trophy loss to the Calgary Dinos. This marked the end for Armstrong's Wesmen career.

DSFL career
Deciding to leave school early, he was a waiver wire pickup by the Portland Pythons. He was released at the end of the S13 regular season without getting an opportunity for playing time.
Season 14 Prospect Bowl
Armstrong was assigned to the East Cobras prospect team in the lead up to the Season 14 Prospect Bowl. Under the helm of a struggling Armstrong, the Cobras went 2-3 over 5 games and missed out on the Prospect Bowl Playoffs. Armstrong finished with a 48 passer rating, throwing 3 TDs to 5 interceptions, 684 yards and a completion percentage of just 41.9%.
Season 14 DSFL Draft
Cited by many as the leader of the S14 DSFL QB class, Armstrong ended up falling to the 63rd overall pick in the 11th round to the Portland Pythons. The same draft saw Prospect Bowl Rivals Apollo Lange and Ryan Leaf Jr. both go in the 3rd round, and Jay Longshaw go in the 5th.
Season 14 DSFL Season
Not many people would have predicted that a quarterback picked in the 11th round would have had the kind of season Armstrong did in S14. The numbers were spectacular as Armstrong had 2,614 passing yards (2nd) on 239 completions (2nd), 22 touchdowns (1st) to only 11 interceptions, and a passer rating of 86 (1st) which was the best in the DSFL, beating out players like Cooter Bigsby and Corvo Havran who were the 1st and 2nd overall draft picks in the NSFL S14 draft. In the playoffs, he led his team to an NFC championship win over the Norfolk Seawolves, with a score of 16-13. The Ultimini title featured the Portland Pythons at home against the defending champions Tijuana Luchadores. Overcoming three interceptions, Armstrong threw three touchdown passes in the 2nd half along with two in the 4th quarter to seal the Season 14 Ultimini Title for the Portland Pythons.

Franklin Armstrong was considered the clear frontrunner of the S15 DSFL QB prospects. Over 90% of NSFL mock drafts had Armstrong going in the first round. Armstrong yet again faced a a draft day drop as he fell to the 3rd round where he was picked up by the Orange County Otters at 28th overall.
Season 15 DSFL Season
Armstrong's second full season in the DSFL was a frustrating one as the defending champions Portland Pythons struggled all season. While Armstrong's numbers were solid at a 14 and 9 touchdown to interception ratio and a 77.1 rating, the numbers did not translate to a lot of wins. Due to a mixture of losing a plethora of the previous season's championship team to the NSFL, and a little bad luck on the road, the Pythons found themselves at 7-7 by the end of the season. This was good enough for homefield in the NFC as they had the tiebreaker over the Kansas City Coyotes whose record was also 7-7. After dominating the NFC championship 31-7 against the Coyotes, the Pythons found themselves in the Ultimini for their second straight appearance. They matched up against the Palm Beach Solar Bears, who had bested them in both prior matchups in Season 15. The Ultimini was a sad affair for the Pythons as they lost by a commanding score of 37-17. Armstrong had one of the worst games of his career, throwing 12/30, a pedestrian 95 yards, and an interception which gave him an overall rating of 34.7.
Season 16 DSFL Season
Season 16 marked the last season for Armstrong in the DSFL. Armstrong had bump in production as he did enough to regain the MVP and QBotY awards he last won two season ago. He threw 2805 yards, 18 TDs, 14 INTs and an overall rating of 82.1. He led the league in passing touchdowns, passing yards and passer rating. The Pythons led the NFC with a dominating 11-3 season as the Luchadores were the regular season champs of the SFC. Through weeks 11 and 12 Armstrong threw for 8 touchdowns and 0 interceptions which was a highlight series of games for the quarterback. The Pythons rolled into the Ultimini again after a close victory against the Coyotes in the NFC conference championship game where they matched up in a rematch of the S14 DSFL Ultimini game facing the 12 win Luchadores. Unfortunately it was the Luchadores who won this go around as Armstrong threw 2 backbreaking interceptions in a 28-14 loss. A devastating end to Armstrong's Pythons career.

Season 17 NSFL Season
Franklin Armstrong’s S17 rookie season in the NSFL was a fairly successful one. He led the team to a 7-6 record and second in the ASFC to the defending champions Arizona Outlaws. He threw for 3191 yards, and a TD/INT ratio of 23/13. His efficiency was low with a 53.5 completion percentage (last in the league) and a passer rating of 78.2 (second last). The wildcard game featured a rematch of Armstrong’s first NSFL game in Week 1 against the Christ led Sabercats. The Otters avenged their Week 1 loss in a close home victory, winning 20-13. This marked the last game in Christ's career. The conference championship in the ASFC featured the defending champions Arizona Outlaws vs the underdog Orange County Otters. He was named Offensive Ultimus MVP.
Season 18 NSFL Season
The Orange County Otters continued their consecutive playoff appearances streak that dated back to 2016 (S1). The Otters headed into the season as the defending champions, winners of Ultimus Bowl XVII. The Otters improved their record from the previous year, going from 7-6 to 10-3. They were first place in the ASFC season and earned home field advantage in the Conference, but were not able to ensure home field in the Ultimus as they fell short of the Wraiths league leading 11-2 record. Franklin Armstrong had a very strong second season as he led a very potent offence headlined by players like Johnny Blaze who took home his second positional award at tight end. Armstrong had a TD/INT ratio of 18/9, and passed for 2868 yards. While the volume was low, Armstrong's efficiency was much improved. He had a 59.1 completion percentage (3rd), and 88.6 passer ratting which was more than 10 points higher than his previous season. Armstrong's rushing abilities is where he made headlines, rushing for 754 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. He was the Otters leading rusher as well finishing top 10 overall.
The Otters beat Second Line in the Quarterfinals and had their third straight matchup with the Arizona Outlaws in the Championship for the ASFC. They prevailed for the second straight year, with a hard fought 21-16 home victory to reach their second straight Ultimus Bowl. It was an odd game as the Outlaws had 20 first downs to the Otters 10, 442 yards compared to the Otters 265, and Armstrong had only 11 completions in the game. Despite this, the Otters defence managed to hold strong in the redzone, limiting the Outlaws to one touchdown on the day. In the Ultimus, the matched up with the number team in the league, the 11-2 Yellowknife Wraiths. The Otters won a defensive slug fest in a 16-10 victory. Armstrong was named Offensive Ultimus MVP for the second straight season, for his efficient 16/26, 226 yards and 1 touchdown performance. The games only touchdown came during the early 1st quarter, as Franklin Armstrong led the team down the field for an opening touchdown drive with Blaze on the receiving end of the 31 yard pass. That ended up being the games only touchdown score.
