After a poor and absentee pre draft performance, Taonga was on no one's draft boards, especially in such a stacked class. Taonga kept falling, and eventually got selected at pick 60, in the 8th round to the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. Originally unsure of himself and how he'd do, Taonga only knew one thing to be certain - he would make himself worth the pick. While he started off rough due to lack of training with the team, a strong supporting environment helped him grow as a player and as a person, creating an ideal environment for him. Though the team struggled, the camaraderie helped him feel like he belonged. He ended the season with a modest statline of 74 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 1 sack, and 12 pass deflections, though he began really turning it on near the end of the season. Going into the season 50 ISFL draft, Taonga had no expectations, just hope for a selection at a decent pick. During the draft, he was selected with the first overall pick of the draft by the Colorado Yeti. He plans to stay in the DSFL with Bondi, and looks forward to proving his worth in the upcoming season.
