Spencer Castle, the Tampa. FL native, was born to Ethan and Hila Castle. Spencer attended Hillsborough High School from his freshman to senior year. In 2010 he received an All-State Selection, followed by recognition in 2011 as Mr. Football, a Florida exclusive award. Later named a 5-star recruit, Castle ranked 5th in the nation as a prospective draftee.
College career
Committing to the University of Miami in 2016, Spencer redshirted his first year as a Hurricane. In 2017, however, he received the go-ahead to start and managed 32 tackles, 1.5 for a loss. With only a single interception, Castle understood that his vision could use some work. His strength was in press coverage and throwing receivers off-route. Fortunately, this masked his lack of ball awareness.
Highly touted for his strong work ethic, Castle was no slouch in the off-season, though, drastically improving his interception total to 4 in 2018, one of those for a touchdown. This improvement may be attributed to his professional relationship with retired Baltimore safety Ed Reed.
