Born into a very small household, his birth parents left him on the doorstep of a his adopted parents. He had always been larger than other player in every division of football he was in. He played Varsity all 4 years of high school and was the defensive captain. He was a 4-star and had commited to UT Austin Junior year. He had averaged almost a sack a game and in his junior year, and led the state in forced fumbles. He brought home the 6A Texas High School State championship, still considered one his greatest achievements. During his senior year of high school his adopted parents were tragically killed in a 8 car accident off the freeway. This motivated him to become the best he could be, especially since it was his father's dream. He graduated almost top of his class and was given academic honors from the school district.
