Early years
Zack Mouse was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. Growing up in a single parent household, Mouse rarely saw his father. During the times that he did see his father, Mouse would always ask to play football. Showing an aptitude for catching the ball, Mouse would always play wideout in pickup games in the neighborhood. As he grew older, Zack would play organized football, such as Pee Wee and summer leagues, instead of just the pickup games. When he got into high school, Mouse attended a tryout for the West Charlotte high school team. Zack began to show a lot of promise as a Safety, not allowing a pass to be completed by the school's star quarterback to the best receiver on the team. Mouse was immediately named a member of the varsity football team as a freshman, which didn't happen at West Charlotte. After four seasons and two All-American campaigns, Zack decided to stay close to home and attend North Carolina State University on a scholarship.
College career
As a true freshman for the 2034 football season, Mouse didn't play very much as he only started the final game of the season. He was decent in nickel and dime packages, but the talent that the scouts had seen at West Charlotte wasn't there. He ended the year with a total of 10 tackles (plus one more tackle for loss) alongside 1 interception. Relegated to backup duties for the 2035 and 2036 seasons, Mouse was starting to get more effective as time went on. He finished the 2035 season with 15 tackles (plus two tackles for loss) with 2 interceptions. In 2036, he had doubled his tackling totals from the 2035 season with 30 tackles (plus four tackles for loss) and 2 interceptions. Named a starter for the 2037 season, Mouse dominated in the backfield. Mouse compiled 60 tackles (plus eight tackles for loss), 5 sacks, and 8 interceptions (with 2 returned for a touchdown). Although he was eligible to be taken in the DSFL Draft, Mouse opted to stay in school to finish his Computer Science degree. After graduating, Mouse declared his intention to join the DSFL as an Undrafted Free Agent.
