Dre Matthews was born in Brooklyn, New York in the Brooklyn Hospital Center. However, at the age of 2, his parents moved to Orlando, Florida and has lived the rest of his childhood and teen years in Orlando, Florida. His parents are, Chris Matthews and Miah Matthews Football was not Matthews' first sport. Matthews played basketball and played in some minor league basketball camps but he later found his love for football after watching Football superstar Odell Beckham Jr.
Dre attended Oak Ridge High School, and started for the football varsity team when he was just a freshman. Coaches saw the hard work and talent Dre had. They said they have never seen such hard work and dedication a young football player like Dre had. They also mentioned that his spirit in the locker room is unbelievable, he is a player that you want in your locker room.
Colleges started to see the impact Dre had on his high school varsity team and was offered many scholarships for him to play for their college.
College career
Dre Matthews received many scholarships from colleges such as University of Alabama, LSU, Florida St., and University of Florida.
Dre decided to go to University of Florida because his father almost went to play football for them until he suffered a career ending injury. Dre Matthews also played wide receiver for the University of Florida and was one of the best wide receivers in the University of Florida.
Freshman Year
Dre's freshman year at the University of Florida was pretty good. While being WR3 he ran for 689 yds with 5 TDs. The Florida Gators made the playoffs during Dre's freshman season and he played in his first college football playoff game. Dre had 88 yards and 1 TD his first college football playoff game but it was not enough since their team lost.

The Gators went to the College Football Playoffs and Dre played excellently. Dre in his last college football playoff game had 130 YDs with 3 TDs.
