Lukas was born in Barrington, Illinois, to Leanna and Jason Van Ness. He committed to Iowa after a great highschool run where he got 37 sacks his senior year along with 17 TFL's and 3 FF. Before that he didn't start his Freshman year but progressed rapidly after that. He was injured his junior year with a High ankle sprain which affected his numbers drastically. He caught the eye of several college teams but chose to join the elite Iowa defense. He was a top 25 recruit going into college which got his sponsor deals. He signed a deal with Nike for 500k and an unlimited amount of Nike apparel. This was a win win because Nikes sales increased by 7% for the next few months. Some scouts were calling him a bust and saying that his highschool career was his peak. Lukas now felt challenged and set out to prove them wrong. He put in the work in the time before the season and added 15 pounds of more muscle now putting him in the high 270's.

He also set the record for most sacks in a game with 7 in the game against top 10 team Michigan. He was a All American First Teamer and won the Chuck Bednarik Award. But one day he was at his friend's house. His friend Tavon, didn't exactly live in a safe neighborhood so one day a local gang did a driveby shooting on Tavon's house with Lukas inside. He was shot in his left hamstring and in his right pectoral muscle. He was rushed to the hospital and went into surgery. He was expected to make a full recovery though he went undrafted and is currentley working out daily waiting for a team to sign him and give him a chance.

He fit right in with the KCC D line but some say he may have been held back and could have gotten more sacks being on a different team as he was on the best sacking defense in the league. He is rumored and mocked to go in the late 2nd to 4th round in the ISFL draft. He shared that he did not care what team drafted him as long as he got to start in the ISFL. He has progressed a lot this offseason and will look to go over 250 TPE before Week 1 as he plans to stay in the DSFL for another year. He will continue to improve himself harder the ever leading into next season.

He was drafted by the Berlin Salamanders in the middle of the 3rd round and after a few games was unhappy being a long-time 4th stringer. He then demanded a trade then got traded to NOLA which is a great fit as they are in a full rebuild. He was immediately a 2nd stringer at OLB which he is very happy about. He still plans to high earn next season and hopefully get even better stats so that's not the focus when they are contenders for the Ultimus.
