For being such a young player in the league still and playing defense for the first time in his career, Osiris had a very good season. He led the NSFC in passes defended and made the pro bowl, one of only two Butchers players to do so that season along with wide receiver Sean O'Leary.  Despite Osiris' success at his new position, the Butchers team as a whole struggled, finishing the season with a league-worst 1-12 record.

Osiris also played a significant role on special teams for the Butchers, returning both kicks and punts for the first time in his career. He struggled with this aspect of the game however, finishing the season with some of the worst return efficiency numbers in the league. "Special teams is definitely one of the areas that I want to be more successful in. I think that it's something a lot of players ignore but can make a huge impact for the team," he said at a press conference at the conclusion of the season.

Osiris Firestorm-Fjord (born September 13, 2015) is an American football Tight End who currently plays for the Chicago Butchers of the NSFL. He played college football for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) before being drafted in the 2035 DSFL Draft (S20) by the Portland Pythons.

Early years

Osiris Firestorm-Fjord was born and raised in Paris, TX. He grew up working on his parents' ranch where he became an experienced bull rider and tractor driver. He was a two-sport athlete at PS 118 where he competed in track and field in addition to football. He earned All-County honors as a wide receiver in his senior season.

During high school, he began training to become an amateur bull rider. However, as he approached graduation, he focused his attention towards football in order to obtain a college scholarship to pursue a college degree.

College Career

Osiris received multiple scholarship offers to play college football in his home state of Texas including an offer from Texas A&M. However, Firestorm-Fjord committed to the University of California, Los Angeles citing his need to "get the heck out of Texas".

He began his college career as a wide receiver but saw very little playing time as a true freshman. Most scouts claim that his tall, lanky frame and lack of straight line speed were strong contributors to his inability to succeed at the position at the college level. In the Spring of his freshman year, the coaching staff at UCLA recommended that he put on some more weight in order to start playing tight end. While not a national standout at the position, Osiris was named the team's starting tight end in his Sophomore and Junior seasons, both times eclipsing 600 receiving yards.

College Career Statistics

Firestorm-Fjord finished with 122 receptions, 1430 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns during his career at UCLA.

DSFL Career

"There lived a certain man in Portland long ago. He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow. Most people looked at him with terror and with fear. But to Pythons fans he was such a lovely dear."

-Excerpt from Portland folk tale

Osiris was claimed off waivers in S19 by the Portland Pythons and then drafted by the Pythons the following season with the 35th overall pick in the 2035 DSFL Draft (S20). Despite his increase in recognition leading up to his selection in the following NSFL draft, Osiris was seen as a raw prospect when he initially declared for the DSFL. His athletic profile didn't match that of most tight ends in the league and it was hard to see him making a significant impact with the limited amount of coaching and training available at the DSFL level.

During his career with the Pythons, Osiris split time at tight end with journeyman Demarcus Strike. The Pythons struggled both on and off the field during Osiris' DSFL career including an abysmal S20 that saw both of Portland's GMs resign mid-season and the team finish with a league-worst record of 2-12.

DSFL Career Statistics

Osiris finished his DSFL career with 38 receptions, 258 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown.

The Butchers missed the playoffs and Osiris failed to eclipse 350 receiving yards and did not even record a touchdown on the season despite being the team's primary tight end and playing with veteran QB Rose Jenkins.

2037 Season

Having come off a rather paltry rookie season and the Butchers looking to rebuild under new leadership, Osiris made the decision to switch to playing cornerback in the off-season before the 2037 season. It was a tough decision for Osiris to make, not only because of career goals that he had set for himself as a tight end, but also because of the signififcant amount of work he would have to put in to transform his body to play the cornerback position. "Special teams is definitely one of the areas that I want to be more successful in. I think that it's something a lot of players ignore but can make a huge impact for the team," he said at a press conference at the conclusion of the season.
