Gunner Thorbjornsson (born August 4, 2016) is an American football wide receiver who is currently preparing to enter the professional ranks.He played college football for University of Oregon (Oregon) and has declared his intent to enter the professional ranks next season.

Early years

Gunner Thorbjornsson was born in the small town of Nimrod, OR. The town's population is under 200 people and is roughly 35 miles east of Eugene, OR. His mother, Freyja, and father, Igor, raised him in their quaint cabin along the McKenzie River. Both of Norwegian decent, Freyja and Igor left their home country for America in search of a fresh after their marriage. They ultimately landed in Eugene and after a couple of days found the quiet town of Nimrod to be to their liking. On April 20th, 2015 Freyja gave birth to Gunner.

Growing up in the shadow of Autzen Stadium, he fell in love with the University of Oregon and the sport of football. He wanted nothing other than to suit up in the green and yellow one day. He was always the best player on his teams throughout flag football, middle school, and high school, yet the local University only offered him a spot as a walk-on. That didn't break his determination.

College career

Gunner did not recieve a scholarship to any of the Power 5 conferences, and did not wish to attend any of the small schools because he sought a bigger spotlight. This resulted in his enrollment at the University of Oregon before the 2033 season where he won a spot on the team as a walk-on due to his percieved coachability. He would redshirt for the entire 2033 season. The following year he won a spot as the return specialist where he took 2 punts and 1 kickoff to the house. He had a spattering of appearances in the slot, but didn't make a massive impact on the offense. However, 2035 was a completely different story. He broke out in the spring game for 4 TDs on 12 catches for 213 yards. He helped lead the Ducks to a Pac-12 title on the back of his 20 TDs. However, he was promply suspended for the National Title game and the entire 2036 season for mooning the Washington Huskies fans after a dominating 3 TD performance. The incident plummeted his draft stock and thus Gunner decided to return to the University of Oregon for his redshirt senior year due to "unfinished business". His 2037 season wasn't as explosive as 2035, but Gunner was able to keep his nose clean and stay out of trouble, ultimately boosting his draft stock back up.

Pre-draft Prospect Scouting Report

Overview:
The former walk-on at Oregon will put in the work to ensure he gets on the field. Explosive playmaker on the boundary, in the slot, and as a returner. Quick twitch runner with the ball in his hands that makes defenders trip over themselves with his patented "hezzy hey" juke. He has great body control both on the ground and in the air allowing him to make acrobatic catches. Thorbjornsson will have to learn better self control as on more than one occasion his big play was negated by a taunting penalty. All-in-all, he's a big play waiting to happen and loves the spot light. The classic love to have him on your team, but hate to play against him type of player.

Strengths:

• Attacks the ball in the air, routinely high pointing above the defenders reach.
• Has a thorough knowledge of the route tree due to his dedication to practice.
• Has a smooth glide stride which results in no wasted movement on seem routes.
• Sharp, defined cuts when moving both inside and outside.
• Competitiveness. He hates to lose and will give his all to win.
• Hair. We've all seen it, we've all swooned. It's truly the best of this class.

Weaknesses:

• Wasn't asked to block much in college. Form is sloppy and can result in penalties.
• Will need to work on press release. Strong, physical corners will be able to throw off his timing.
• Goes for the home run too often. Needs to learn when to go down. His flashy field cut back plays will not work in the pros who are faster than his college competition.
• Has a bit of a temper. One off field instance resulted in him "upper decking" his rivals locker room toilets as revenge for a hit he perceived to be a cheap shot.
• Will need to tone down his TD celebrations. Randy Moss would be proud of his "moon" but the innocent women and children don't want to see that.

DSFL Career (London Royals)

S23 Overview:
Gunner was drafted with the last pick in the 5th round, #47 overall, to the London Royals. He was the 6th out of 7 wide receivers drafted. This put a chip on his shoulder as he wanted to prove the teams that passed on him wrong. It was a long move from Eugene to London, but Gunner felt at home as soon as his cleats hit the turf. This is what he had always wanted: to be a professional football player. However, the start to the season was far from what he had expected. The team started 1-5 and were in dire straights. However, thanks to leadership of key veterans on the team, the Royals turned it around and finished on a hot streak, ending 7-7 and just missing out on home field advantage in the last week. As the final whistle blew, Gunner finished as the rookie with the most receptions (44) and yards (587). This put him as a finalist for the Offensive Rookie of the Year, which he lost out on. Gunner was able to put together one of his more impressive games in the playoffs with 48 yards on 4 catches, including 1 TD. At the time, it gave the Royals a 10-7 lead, but they were unable to hold on, ultimately losing 14-13.

S23 Off-season & Draft:
The season was over, and Gunner set his focus on the combine for the ISFL draft. He dominated the combine by placing near the top in every category for wide receivers. Pre-draft, Gunner was getting a lot of 1st round hype with some drafts even mocking him at #1 overall. In the end, Gunner wound up going #6 overall to the Arizona Outlaws. He was the 3rd London Royal taken in the draft and the 2nd WR. This was a huge jump from the DSFL draft, improving 41 places. His hard work had paid off. After discussions with Arizona GM, Unicorn, Gunner was sent back down to the London Royals to complete one more season in the DSFL.

S24 Overview:
Gunner was sent back down to the DSFL for one more season to hone his skills. He did just that and broke out as one of the top pass catchers in the league. He set single season records for the London Royals in both receptions and yards despite having a year long case of the butterfingers tallying 28 drops, 9 more drops than the next receiver. He was truly in a league of his own in that category. On the year, the Royals rallied to finish 8-6 and secure home field advantage for the semi-final game in which they won, 22-3 behind a dominate running game. Gunner did manage to secure another playoff touchdown in his teams win that propelled them to the finals. Thanks to an upset win by Norfolk over Tijuana, the Royals also ended up with home field advantage in the Ultimini. Gunner had himself another big playoff game, hauling in 6 catches for 71 yards. He didn’t score in this one, but he was still productive nonetheless. One upping himself from his previous years Offensive Rookie of the Year nominee, Gunner had the honors of being up for the Wide Receiver of the Year nomination this year. His touchdown totals kept him from ultimately winning the award, but he will go down as one of the best pass catchers (and droppers) in his Royal’s career.

S24 Off-season & Draft:
Gunner’s services were needed elsewhere, and he was called up to the ISFL. There were talks about the drops being a big problem for a pass heavy offensive like Arizona’s, so rumblings started to surface about a possible position switch. Those rumblings proved to be true, especially once the Outlaws lost their leading rusher and Joe of the Year, Joseph Petrongolo to Berlin in the expansion draft. Gunner was set to be the man leading the lines on the ground for the Arizona Outlaws. Oh how the turntables had turned.
