Will Nightingale (born August 2, 2029) is an American football cornerback for the Norfolk Seawolves of the Developmental Simulation Football League (DSFL).

Early years

Will Nightingale was born in Wandsworth, London on August 2nd, 2029. His parents were Michael Nightingale and Hillary Jones both of which were professional soccer players. His mother being the more successful, who won the world cup playing for the English national team in 2026. Growing up Will enjoyed playing and watching soccer. He was a star prospect in high school and was on track to continue his family's legacy set by his parents. However, Will found football through his local team the London Royals and instantly fell in love with the sport. After playing only a year of high school football, he decided to move to the US to try and play at the college level.

College career

As a true freshman Will Nightingale was the starting punter for Illinois. Using his past soccer skills, he was able put up very respectable distances but never quite had the accuracy of the more experienced punters. With the Illinois offense being quite poor that year, Will was used a lot and was seen as a sign of hope for a brighter future. In his second year, going in to week 5 there had been a string of injuries to the Illinois defense. The team was so desperate they held public tryouts calling for students at the university to come down and try to make the team. Because of Will's popularity within 'Block I', the students pushed him to tryout. Nightingale didn't have the best hands for the job, but because of his natural speed and physical ability, he found himself playing slot corner. In his third year, Will started to finally shine at his new position. His intelligence and speed allowed him to be a tackling machine. While still improving his hands, Will found more success in batting the ball and thus only had 1 interception on the year. After this break out year, Will was ready to help Illinois become a force in the Big 10. He helped recruit some of his old mates from London and they created the "British Barrier". This year Illinois had the #1 passing defense with Nightingale being the star and team captain. Sadly a poor offense squandered what could have been an impressive year for Illinois football.

Professional career

DSFL career

With many teams weary of his limited expierence, Nightingale was not drafted during the DSFL draft. However, Will Nightingale was picked up off the waiver wires by the Norfolk Seawolves prior to the 35th season of the DSFL. Will would be a member of the "Legion of Boom", the impressive secondary unit of Norfolk, that would help the Seawolves have an impressive season finishing 10-4. Will's first season may be seen as a low production year, but the quality of his teammates meant that Nightingale was not needed as much and would see the field more in a FS position rather as a CB. The Seawolves would move on to the South Championship versus the Tijuana Luchadors. Will would should up big this game having both an int and a PD that would help secure the victory of Tijuana. Norfolk would proceed to face the Kansas City Coyotes in the Ultimini Bowl in Cairo. The stout defense of Norfolk would hold KCC to only 14 points with Will providing a couple crucial tackles chasing down the speedy wide receivers out of Kansas. This defensive stand would allow Norfolk to take home the Ultimini and help boost Will's draft rating in the upcoming ISFL draft. With an Ultimini win in Will's first DSFL season, he continues to show his improvement as a DB and shows he is ready to compete at the next level.
