Johnny Snuggles (born January 22, 2003) was an American football cornerback for the Yellowknife Wraiths.

Early years

Johnny Snuggles was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on a hot summer afternoon to parents Mildred and Samson Snuggles. Even from a young age, Johnny showed a rare athletic prowess and an unbridled aggressiveness that was in stark contrast to his last name.

Johnny had always been a big fan of football growing up but wasn't allowed to play contact football (only flag) until his freshman year of high school. Instead, he focused mainly on baseball and soccer. Both paid off in dividends once he was finally able to play tackle football, as he was very well conditioned from playing midfield in soccer and had developed a keen eye for judging fly balls from playing outfield in baseball. As a freshman, Johnny was one of the more gifted athletes in his class, but being only 5'9", he was deemed too small to play varsity football. The summer between freshman and sophomore years Johnny hit a massive growth spurt and grew an impressive 3 inches. With 2 summers of weightlifting and now standing 6' tall, he could no longer be denied a spot on the varsity team due to his size. Although no statistics exist from his sophomore and junior seasons, it's known that he started at both WR and CB for varsity those 2 seasons.

College career

Coming into his freshman fall season, Johnny was a highly recruited 5-star "athlete" that was expected to contribute immediately. Unfortunately, Johnny became to wrapped up in his own hype and spent much of his fall semester partying and, due to his academic probation, he was not allowed to play in games. He grudgingly accepted a red-shirt and vowed to make a change in both his behaviour and attitude. For his redshirt freshman year, Johnny was still feeling the blowback from his hard partying first year and saw the field very little. He finished the season with 6 tackles and 2 passes defended, but the improvements in his speed and agility were astounding. For his redshirt sophomore year Johnny was named the #3 CB on the depth chart and started in the nickel position. However, after a solid first few games, Johnny was promoted to the #2 CB spot. He finished the year with 38 tackles, 12 passes defended, and 2 interceptions. Finally, for his redshirt junior year, Johnny began to live up to the hype he had coming out of high school. Promoted to #1 CB on the depth charts and named co-defensive captain, Johnny vowed that this would be his year. Finishing the season with 54 tackles, 23 passes defended, and 9 interceptions, Johnny was named to first-team All-Big Ten and a was presented with the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back. Despite his impressive growth and the clear benefit of staying one more season in college, Johnny decided to declare for the NSFL draft after the season.
