Early years
"Captain" Billy Stinkwater was born in Lexington, KY. Little is known about his family. His father may have been a cat trainer, but he died before Billy was born. He is also estranged from his mother due to several incidents during his childhood. She threw away his favorite teddy bear because his room was too messy and made him eat off the floor when he kept throwing his food on it. His household was very dysfunctional; he grew up thinking that his mother was his sister and his father was his brother. They fought often, sometimes ending in violence. For example, his mother once snapped her index finger because his father was late to church; his father once threw himself down the stairs after his mother dented the car. He has a deaf sister and a brother who works as a stripper.
Later, he had a stepmother who was Inuit. His stepbrother, Cleet, is older than his parents. When Cleet hit a mid-life crisis, he fought with Billy's father constantly and slept with his mother.
High School Career
Billy was a three-star prospect by all the major recruiting services. 247sports had him ranked as the No. 170 wide receiver and No. 20 overall prospect in the state of Kentucky.
He caught 84 passes for 1,541 yards and 22 receiving touchdowns as a senior in helping Paul Laurence Dunbar finish 15-0 and win the Class 6A championship over St. Xavier. His 22 receiving touchdowns tied for second in Kentucky High School Athletic Association single-season history while his 1,541 receiving yards ranks among the state's top-5 single seasons in KHSAA history. He had an additional touchdown on a punt return. His accolades include first-team All-state honors by the Kentucky Sports Writers Associaton and being named to the KY Super All-State Football Team by KY.com.
As a junior, he caught 31 passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns.
He was also on the varsity basketball team.
He chose UK over Louisville, Western Kentucky, and Middle Tennessee.
College Career
Freshman
Billy saw action in all 13 games, mostly on special teams. He had two catches for 51 yards and a touchdown in a blowout win over Murray State.
Sophomore
He played in all 13 games with two starts against Eastern Michigan and Tennessee. For the year, he had seven catches for 75 yards.
Junior
Stinkwater started all 13 games. He led the team in receptions with 67 catches for 603 yards and two scores. His best game came against Tennessee where he had 8 catches for 144 yards and one touchdown.

Portland Pythons
S32
Stinkwater was a late season pickup for Portland.
Minnesota Grey Ducks
S33
After a short S32, the young wide receiver was selected in the 2nd round by the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Stinkwater got off to a hot start with 6 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown in his debut. He quickly became a fan favorite with his post-touchdown salute to the crowd. The next few weeks weren’t very productive with only one or two catches each game in weeks 2-4. His breakout game came in week 5 against the Tijuana Luchadores when he caught 5 passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, this production was short lived, and he only caught one more touchdown pass the rest of the year. Frustrated heading into the playoffs, Stinkwater got back on the board with one touchdown in each playoff game. Sadly, Minnesota was not able to complete the comeback against the Norfolk Seawolves in the Ultimini. Stinkwater, ever the optimist, was still upbeat after the game saying, “On to next year. Look out SFL!”
